Just left this establishment. Ordered sashimi special, and salad. Not fresh at all. Could not finish any of it. Very disappointing.

Cold food sat for 20 minutes before it was served. My friends had already eaten. Cold green tea. Bad miso soup. Bad sushi.

I don’t normally make negative comments, which I feel so bad not to warn the others. I went for the £19.80 buffet dinner, the choices are so limited, the sushi tasted so bad that I have to swallow it in, as still taste of the freezer!

Odd place. Waited half an hour to be served and after deciding on the hour and a half long buffet we were told we had used up the first half hour already as the timer started as soon as we sat down. Food was okay, cool looking, just kinda odd

Buffet for 10 people…20.08 pound each, worth it? As regular sushi eater i will personally suggest to order a la carte instead of buffet. it was Not so tasty. and no many choices. good service thought.

I was craving for AYCE sushi so bad so I decided to go to this place with my friends after searching for any good ayce sushi places with reasonable prize in london. We came 5 min late(6.35pm) and the waitress at the entrance was a bit upset about this. The place looks really nice and I love the atmosphere there. Then a waiter told us about many rules how to order. To be honest, my friends and I found that this should’t be called ‘AYCE’. You can only order up to 5 times with limited items out of provided food! salmon sashimi is included but for other sashimi like tuna and clam, you can only order once! What!!! All of the sushi was rubbish! Its just quantity and not quality at all! Plus, there are other menus apart from sushi like tonkatsu, tempura and sorts of stuffs and again you can order once. To sum up, DONOTGOTOTHISPLACEFORALLYOUCANEATSUSHI !!! It’s not worth your 20£ at all! Well if you long for having like unlimited sashimi which of course the reason why we wanted to go in the first place.

This is another one of my old dinning spot when I was living in London. The food quality is ok but nothing spectacular. However, the restaurant advertised a «Buffet» but really is an «All You Can Eat» formula. You will be given a piece of paper as your order sheet. There is a time limit also, I think it is 2 hours or so, then you can eat as much as you can and keep re-ordering. I also like the Lunch time Bento box which is just about 10 pounds It is good spot to grab a quick bite. I had a Salmon Teriyaki, decent portion, it serves in a bento box, with salad, a bit of veggie. The staff’s service is ok but nothing outstanding.

£20 for a choice of all-you-can-eat delicious and fresh sushi & sashimi. The hot dishes are also nice. However, the order rules are a bit hard to understand at first and the staff is a bit unfriendly.

Oh my lord, all-you-can-eat sushi! My dream come true. I’ve been here a couple of times for the AYCE deal, and have been amazed every time. The sushi is quite fresh, and the atmosphere welcoming. I always end up eating far too much sushi, though! My only complaint would be the service – the staff were attentive, but not entirely friendly. With that said, the service hasn’t stopped me from going, and I’ll certainly be going again in the future. Definitely recommend this place!

This is the best sushi in London hands down! None of that individually wrapped overpriced crap! Have been here 3 times and it’s always a place I meet people because it’s central and amazing! All you can eat sushi for £20 — one round of hot food and three rounds of sushi. I have never made it through two plates of sushi yet have always left in a rice and Asahi coma.

So many wrong things about this place. I was really unimpressed and I am surprised that there aren’t more options for AYCE(All-You-Can-Eat) sushi in London. It’s surprising to think that the city I’m from(a city nowhere near an ocean) has far better options. And Londoners shouldn’t have to put up with that. First off the service was awful. Yes, it’s London and I keep being told how awful the service is, but that doesn’t mean you push a plate into my arm. They were rude, curt and clearly didn’t give a shit that their English was hard to comprehend. Second, the amount of rules listed for the AYCE was ridiculous. We might as well have been offered a contract to sign before entering. The way this AYCE works is you get given two pieces of paper for ordering(one for sushi and one for hot food). You then tick off the circles in order to select what food you want. The amount of food or pieces of sushi is not listed. Then the rules… some were expected(paying for leftover food, having only 1.5hrs to finish all the food) and others were odd. You can only order from the hot food *once*. Well… that’s sucks. And it doesn’t let you know what the portion sizes are… So I guess give it a good guess? Oh and the sushi list. You had only about 7 options of rolls to choose from(other than a random 3 that you can’t re-order) and you can only order one type at a time. So say you’re just about stuffed and want to order just 4 more nigiris? Not happening. You’ll have to order it separately. Uff… Third, the food. Terrible. And that’s with the lowered expectations that come with AYCE. The rice was bland, two of our orders were screwed up(and not fixed because of the ridiculous rules about re-ordering and their poor English/attitudes), and the rolls were at times ¾ rice and ¼ veggies/fish. I don’t really understand how this is acceptable in London with all of the cultures and restaurants. It’s far from cheap(when converted to CND it was over 40 $ for me), a far cry from Izakaya(I don’t expect Osaka-quality squid balls, but theirs just tasted odd) and it’s in an area surrounded by better options. In fact the only thing this place has going for it is the nice atmosphere and the fact that Londoners have few other AYCE options. Something I hope will soon change.

What can I say… an amazing Japanese Fusion restaurant in my little hometown in Canada has set the bar so high for sushi that I’ve been scared to try it in Britain for the past year and a half(if you ever find yourself in cottage country, check out Wabora — ). Before you think I’m a sushi expert — I’m far from it. 1) I have a soy intolerance which limits what I can eat. 2) I don’t eat seafood, so I only go for vegetarian options. So I bet you’re wondering what I eat when I go for sushi. I have high standards for avocado rolls and vegetable tempura. Yum! The avocado rolls here are standard. Really not much I can say on this, as it’s quite boring but delicious. The vegetable tempura was great. I can say it lived up to the challenge of my Canadian expectations. Bonus points for the presentation of the vegetable tempura. It looked gorgeous placed on top of the lotus root. The real winner of my experience at Hi Sushi was the Tini cocktail. Lychee deliciousness in a martini glass. I was worried I wouldn’t like it because I’m not a huge fan of lychee but it was perfect. My expertise in this subject matter lacks considerably in comparison to others, but I would order all three of these things again the next time I go back to Hi Sushi. Phil E. raves about the All-You-Can-Eat Sushi. Most of it turned me off as a non-seafood eater, but it looked really good and he was almost beaten by the amount of sushi! Beware: if you do not order from the buffet and you steal a bit off your neighbour’s plate, you will be charged for an entire buffet meal on top of whatever you’ve ordered.

A really disapointing place, expensive, way far from a real izakaya, it’s run by chinese people, it’s like going to an italian restaurant ran by arabs, no matter how much effort they put in in, it’ll never be like the real deal

The Covent Garden branch is one of my favourite places in town for sushi. They do an all you can eat menu, which sounds like it should be so incredibly wrong with a cuisine like sushi, but in actual fact somehow defies the laws of the universe and works. Awesome salmon sashimi. They do great cocktails too, with green tea infused thingemeybobs and other such themed up inventions. Go, but be aware this is a review of Hi Sushi in Covent Garden specifically — I have found the quality to vary in other branches.

I’m not sure how I didn’t find an all you can eat sushi place until now, but this place is goooood. The deal is a bit complicated so make sure you read and understand what is printed on the pieces of paper they give you. And don’t over-order because you could be charged for wastage(something I’ve never heard of in the States) But when you do order they are pretty quick about bringing food and it was all really good. My friend had a bone in one piece of salmon sashimi, but that happens every now and again, it’s not a big deal. What is a big deal, however, is my newfound love for Hi Sushi and especially their spicy salmon rolls. Some of the other reviews mention they brought the fried food and non-sushi before the actual sushi so you filed up quickly, but we didn’t have that. Our sushi platter was ready first. By the time we got the tempura and gyoza we ordered we were halfway to food comas from the sushi platter. We were definitely riding the struggle bus by the end to finish everything but it was totally cost efficient. For 3 people, we had over 75 pieces of sushi, miso soups, sushi rice, and a large plate of tempura and gyoza, for about 55 pounds. I don’t know about you but I’m pretty okay with that, so was my wallet. As for service, they weren’t super attentive but they were around so when you wanted something I only had to make eye contact, no biggie.

This is a terrible place. For a chef’s selection of a combo of 9 nigiri, 9 maki, and 9 sashimi for £23, the chef selected the SAME four kinds of fish for each of them, and they were the standard salmon, tuna, shrimp and mackerel. Very uninspiring. Lousy service, which they tried to automatically charge for. When I complained they were completely indifferent. Needless to say, I deducted their service charge and won’t even look in their window again. The chain Itsu is way better, and it’s meh without this comparison!

Second time here and the food is as tasty as before. I went for the buffet again, excellent value at £18 pp. You get to choose 5 sushi dishes and up to 8 from the a la carte. The portion sizes are huge and well presented. I love the squid, salmon sushi, tuna, well all of it really. Wash down your food with a reasonably priced(£15) bottle of house dry white. Service is good and the tables of 4 upstairs, are great fun.

I wish I could hate that place… I am getting very close to sushi overdose. They are great! The buffet is amazing for the price it is. Still expensive, but honestly, for the portions, it’s not that bad! The sushis are very fresh and good, and the rolls are amazing! I especially love the Salsa roll and the spicy salmon ! So, so good! The only thing I HATE about this place is that the service is just really crappy! They are not super nice, and quite rude. This one time, I had to wait 20 minutes for a glass of water because he kept forgetting! And there is no way you are gonna manage to put a smile on their face! But overall, really good fresh food!

Some of the best and most reasonably priced sashimi and nigiri I have had in London. The scallops melt in your mouth and the bbq eel is moist and perfectly seasoned and sauced. The stales, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, etc are all very tasty, fresh and well cut. The service is great and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. The best tables are upstairs and seat up to 4 people — you sit on cushions and your legs hang down into a little well under the table.

I’m confused… my bento box(soft shell crab and tofu steak) and all the other food that came with it was really, really good. The fish roe sushi and kimchi noodle were very good as well! The seating is original — seating is on the wooden stage where your feet are hanging down in the compartment under the table. It sounds confusing but it’s cool. Ambient lighting was well placed, it provides you with an intimate atmosphere. Maybe music is what confused me — western rather than Japanese, although they did play my old favourite pop songs. Also it may be due to the resulted lack of pretentiousness which normally comes with your sushi platter anywhere decent in Central London. To be fair for a sunday night there were a lot of people and most of them — Japanese which says a lot about the quality of food!
