When we moved to the UK about 3.5 years ago, we thought it would be such a good idea to bring our very own Dyson vacuum cleaner — after all, isn’t that the motherland of all Dysons? In any case, due to the voltage difference, we had to also buy a monstrous heavy-duty currency-transformer, that would allow us to use this devise here in the UK. And as you might imagine, this isn’t very convenient — to schlepp around that heavy transformer if you want to do your household chores. And thus, in order to alleviate our domestic chores, we decided to buy a local hoover. We were quite thrown off by the prices — however — until one day, when we walked by Holloway Hoovers. This is a store that refits & repairs old hoovers. Their main source is from local charity stores, as they themselves cannot sell electric appliances and so the old hoovers end up here. We saw a Miele in the shop window… and being German I wanted to have what my Mom also uses at home! The guy in the store was very nice and he showed us a couple of hoovers, but eventually we took the Miele and paid only £49 for it!(Original price was over £200.) And the best thing is, that we also got a 1 or 2-months full warranty in case anything happened. Furthermore, this store also sell all kinds of vacuum cleaner bags — so it’s a one-stop-shop for all things hoover-related. And the best of all: our new Miele is a real sucker! In fact, it is so powerful, that it effortlessly sucks up our dog’s hair… which even our beloved Dyson wouldn’t do as well!
