Homebase

Having recently admitted this strange fact about myself to Tristan J I’m just going to put it out there to everyone else… I love Homebase. In fact I love any of these DIY-​type places.
I like the smell of wood, paint and varnish. I like the really tall shelves. I like the kitchen and bathroom units that are on display — a great setting to play house as a child. In fact, when I was a child I would also race around trying to find that aisle that had the doorbells all set up on a wall, wired and ready to be pressed. They don’t seem to have them these days, perhaps because they cottoned on that children such as I could spend many a happy hour pressing all of them while their parents strolled around looking at paint. Happy days.
This store is cool, fully stocked and the staff are super-​friendly and helpful. They even have a lovely Laura Ashley section upstairs, the stuff is soooo beautiful! I have been here a good few times since moving north of the river, for various home improvement bits ‘n’ bobs and always been able to pick up what I need.
