Was man von China town erwartet. Nicht mehr, nicht weniger. Die Ausstattung ist okay, die Mitarbeiter sind etwas wortkarg. Leider gibt es kein WLAN. Zu den Preisen fürs Essen wird eine Service Gebühr aufschlägig berechnet.

I didn’t initially trying to write this, but after 8 months, the horrible experiences still haunts me, I decided to track this place down, and write this. As a Chinese Born, Living British, I cannot shed any light or sympathy or help, it is simply the World’s Worst Buffet ever, never met any Chinese more rude, never ate any Chinese food so like chewing wax, never dined in a more dirty place, and never have to put up the unbearable treatment by staff and owner in a restaurant. It is just the insult to name of Buffet, to the name of great place of Hong Kong, to the impression of tasty food, to the great place and other residents and businesses of Chinatown, London, and to the friendly image of Chinese. Last summer, May 2015, my uncle and auntie(Brother of my mum), came to Britain to visit us, and I accompanied with them to London, they are extremely stupid and nationalism, but as the host, I tried to make them happy, I still don’t know why they came to World’s Capital but still eat their own food, never mind, insisted by them, I showed them Chinatown, they only want to dine here because it is cheap here, £9.95, well, Chinese food is always cheap so what worse could happen? Well, the Hell actually. We went inside, they are getting food, they are quite satisfied in the beginning, then I began to discover the hell awaiting, first I asked some Lemonade, quite quick, they brought me a cup of warm, no any sparkling left at all ”Lemonade”, well, I guess I could save it with Ice cubes, nope, they don’t have. Then, the waiters and waitress was bad like everyone said here, because they either-way are illegal immigrants from China, or Chinese students wants to earn more money to buy luxury things without legal working permits.(Oh, I knew that, I am born Chinese remember?) But they are actually way better than the owner. Throughout the whole meal, the owner was talking loudly on his phone in Chinese that I can’t understand some dialect in the dine hall irritating everyone, sorry, no, he was quarrelling with someone, that he felt he was alone, that no one hear him, no one understands him, no one care about it so it is fine, NO!, ITISNOTFINE. Including us three and waiters, there are more than 15 people in the tiny restaurant, putting up with his unbearable rude and loud voice throughout whole meal, wait a minute, did you think you are the owner so you are the boss and we have to suffer your pain? I don’t think so. I have never been to such a rude place that have to bear my meal with a total stranger’s fight for a half hour, I still can hearing the banging, no kidding. Since then I began fear to hear Chinese conversations, I don’t know how and why such tasty food and culture and people could merge their terrible side into this place and still opening? Anyway, later the owner finally hangs up I thought it is finally over but no he began to cursing loudly himself, again thinking he was alone. By this time, we have discovered the terrible of food, again, as everyone said, it was cold food re-heated for several time already and even not really heated, feels like chewing wax, my uncle likes prawn and shrimps, as he recall 24 hours later, he still felt the food causing him unwell. Then then I think I don’t need to repeat the toilet room and service and charge like everyone else, plenty truth has said enough. As a Born Chinese, Living British, I can’t shed any sympathy or hope to this food, nor manner nor food nor anything. It is just the worst meal I have ever had, I urge anyone please don’t go there, it is a mystery of why it still exists, but what can I say, the worst of a Great culture and its people is there, and please don’t go. Thank you.

Where to start. Overall just plain out poor. The food tasted awful, similar to Tesco Chinese food, the egg fried rice for example tasted much like steamed rice. The food looked very colourless and old, some dishes also looked almost unsafe to eat, the only plus point about the food is the chicken satays didn’t taste too bad and the salad/fruit selection isn’t bad, although I didn’t try either of them so can’t comment taste wise. The restaurant itself is dirty, cramped and small, the toliets aren’t exactly clean either. Worst than the food and restaurant however is the service if you can call it that, the staff are plain out rude and seem to be very hot tempered if you ask for the slightest thing such as request chop sticks or more tap water. Overall don’t even try the restaurant. Stay clear. The restaurant seriously needs a complete overhaul of everything if it wants to become a better restaurant.

I love Chinese food, the combinations of sweet and sour, plenty of sauce and excessive choices… That’s why finding a cheap and good buffet was in top ten priorities as soon as I moved too London. Hong Kong buffet was my first choice, and I decided to stick to it, and I was a regular visitor there for a while. I didn’t mind paying slightly more than it’s rivals were charging just to have slightly more certainty in the general hygiene of this place and freshness of the food. Definitely wasn’t disappointed. The food selection is quite generous, with plenty of chicken dishes. The plates were clean and warm, and the service was quite pleasant as well. Unlike many buffets, this one does serve tap water. The food was generally quite good, and not too greasy. Spring rolls, buns and prawns are definitely my favorites, not to mention all the chicken and pork!

Pretty good buffet! A tenner for as much Chinese food as you can cram in! I liked the prawns, the satay chicken, the sweet and sour chicken, the broccoli and the orange slices for desert! Thumbs up from me!

It’s not terrible, it’s not great. I’m sure there are worse, more unhygenic all you can eat buffet restaurants around Chinatown but this isn’t one of the best. Hong Kong Buffet is on the edge and one of the first you hit if walking up from Leicester Square. The price is slightly higher than it’s rivals but the food is exactly the same. Dishes are replenished regularly but the quality is pretty average. I quite enjoyed the task of fishing for the pieces of chicken in the sweet and sour chicken sauce. If fishing is your thing then this place is definitely for you as dishes are generally low on meat, high on sauce. The décor is in need of an update and is fairly drab(even more so than it’s local rivals). I realise this is an all you can eat restaurant and not Hakkasan but there are better all you can eat buffets around Chinatown so if you have an extra minute or two, keep on walking…

A few church friends and I popped in here for lunch this afternoon. Yes, it’s a generic buffet restaurant aimed at the tourists and non adventurous. However, it met our needs — reasonable food at a reasonable price and somewhere to rest our feet for a leisurely lunch. The food choice didn’t throw up any great surprises but the beef brisket curry was unusual and nice. I did also eat a lot of galia melon for dessert. Be aware that the headline price of £9.95 will be bolstered by 10% service charge and drinks are on the pricey side(£1.50 for Chinese tea, anyone?) although they do give you tap water if requested without any attitude. Also, it’s cash only. There are cheaper buffets in Chinatown but this was A-OK

During our trip to London, my husband and I went to Chinatown in search of a good Chinese restaurant. Since we forgot to get recommendations from my cousin who resides in London, hubby and I decided to go by visual and price appeal. HongKong Buffet’s food choices looked inviting, the buffet price seemed reasonable but we still decided to check nearby restaurants for comparison. We ended up choosing this place because their food choices seemed more appealing to our palate. We were not disappointed. The food was good… especially the fried shrimp! It wasn’t the best Chinese buffet we’ve ever been to, but it wasn’t so bad either. We would not mind dining here again.
