Hounslow Lahori Karahi is a standard«authentic» Indian/Pakistani restaurant, good prices and good food, but not outstanding and not really as «authentic» as many other places on the Hounslow High Street. The mango lassi was acceptable, but as fresh as it is elsewhere. The grilled meats and kebabs were the«standard» selection but even with a Peshawari manager, there was not«Chapli kebab»(a quintessential Pakistani meat dish). (Author’s note: By «authentic» Indo/Pak, I mean to differentiate from the distinctly different British-Indian cuisine, and suggest that there are varying levels and different dimensions of «authenticity.») I’m not disappointed I went, but I wouldn’t probably go there again, but rather try something else around Hounslow East.

As you walk in through the leftmost door the smell of the barbecue hits your nosehairs and you are hooked. Forget about 99% of the flock-wallpapered curry-houses in London this is where you should go to. This place is BYOB and you order off a laminated menu, in a laminated restaurant, the waiting staff are not exactly over-friendly but for the Lamb Chops alone I would go back. Actually my other half thinks that the Chicken Tikka Masalla is the best thing she’s ever tasted in a curry house, and I know it’s not exactly the most authentic thing going but at LK it was out of this world, actually, try a veg biriani with the past two dishes and thats not a bad combination.
