This review is just for the café restaurant, which has recently been refurbished… …if refurbishment is the right word. The designers seem to have had a bit of a trip on this one. It’s like Alice in Wonderland meets My Little Pony. The place is decorated with lots of blingy chandeliers, bits of diamanté studded everywhere — and lots of pink. There are pink and grey leather chairs, the table coverings are vibrant pink(I think cerise is the technical term), the napkins are pink… you get the picture. There are some spectacularly high-backed chairs, in which you’d expect to find Alice herself sitting. The food is a mixture of snacks(sandwiches, baked potatoes etc) to full meals. And it is expensive — my baked potato with beans and cheese was a whopping £9.50 — yup, nearly a tenner for a baked potato. That said, it was large, and came with lots of chunky coleslaw and salad, and service was quick. And it is quite quiet, so no piped music if you want a quiet lunch time chat. Just make sure your wallet is well stocked. And consider sunglasses…

nice place! I love how they have a place you can get eyelashes just put on. I wish we had something like that near me.

Very conveniently located… and i like it much much better than Selfridges. It’s not as crowded and way less touristy, while maintaining a classy, exclusive but not snobbish touch

I love this department store, mainly because it’s so conveniently located for me. Right on Victoria Street, five minutes walk from St James’ Park tube, Victoria train station and my house, so i walk past it on a daily basis. If you work in the area it’s also quite good for a bit of lunchtime retail therapy. They sell womens wear with all the high street concessions — All Saints, Ted Baker, Warehouse, Oasis, Miss Selfridge, Mango and HoF own Brand Therapy. There’s also the more high end stuff on the first floor. Regarding Menswear they have Ted Baker, Fred Perry, Linea, Ralph Lauren and so on. There’s also a Gap(men, women and children) which has proved quite dangerous for me! They also sell shoes, jewellery, watches, make-up, perfume, a Paperchase concession and cookware — and there’s a café too. Big enough to have a decent range, small enough for me to be able to drag the boyf in for a ten min shopping spree! Plus, this place doesn’t get too busy. It’s far enough away from Oxford Street to miss out on the big crowds, so you tend to get decent service and short queues(if any). Plus, the sales here are brilliant! Maybe that’s because it’s not on Oxford St? They also have week promotions that change often. For example, at the moment there’s £10 of all sweaters and cardigans in Gap — that’s me kitted out for winter then! Yeah i love this place as my one stop high street fashion stop, but let’s keep that between us hey? I don’t want to have to start fighting the crowds in there!

House of Fraser sells everything. From the pure necessities to random things, from mid range to high end products. They state that they sell ‘luxurious items at affordable prices’. They sell women’s wear, men’s wear and children’s wear to beauty products to furniture and electricals. They stock a range of brands such as adidas, Agent Provocateur, DKNY, Diesel, Armani Jeans, Canan, Cath Kidson, Calvin Klein, Miele, Panasonic, to name a few. You are constantly looked after throughout your shopping trip, and if you need a coffee break head up to their café to reflect on your purchases.

Never been particularly impressed with this place. The shop always looks as though it’s seen better days, with the painted-over patterned wallpaper. The shop itself is enormous and often seems empty for the number of people inside. Overall, I’d say Peter Jones in Sloane Square or John Lewis on Oxford Street is a much better option. On the plus side, if you need free wifi — Café Zest, on the top floor, provides it!
