Great restaurant in the vibrant Hoxton hotel. I had the veggie burger and a side of roasted pumpkin, both of which were great. Had a whiskey based cocktail which was well made and decently priced for the area(£9). Will be back to try brunch in the future.

I went to this place specifically while on vacation because it was on symmetry breakfast’s Instagram. Super cute place, vintage and homey, rustic and amazing! We ordered the porridge, sticky pecan buns, croissants, and Benedict. The portions are pretty dainty, the Benedict probably should be ordered with potatoes instead of the English muffin on the bottom just to fill you up more, or get avocado on the side. The people are very friendly but we were not able to sit in the restaurant because we didn’t have a reservation so we sat on the couches by the barista.

We stayed at the Hoxton and although we had the complementary yoghurt and granola pot, banana and OJ, I wanted much more! As soon as I saw steak and eggs on the menu, I couldn’t get downstairs fast enough. Being mid week and between Christmas and new year, the restaurant was quiet. Being around 11am I justified having the steak and eggs for brunch. I also ordered some hash browns but they already come with it YES! James ordered the avocado and eggs on toast with a side of bacon. The portions are great! The steak and eggs were not a disappointment. Nice hunk of fillet steak on 2 lovely hash browns topped with poached eggs, spinach and hollandaise YUM! If red meat wasn’t so bad for you I would have this everyday for breakfast. I managed to nab a bit of James’s breakfast too. The avocado and eggs on toast was delicious and the side of bacon was amazing, thick and perfectly cooked. If I was meeting friends in the area, I would definitely pop back here.

Great breakfast! I had the QUINOAPORRIDGE with almond milk, banana and bee pollen. It was delicious. Atmosphere and service are also high quality. Cocktails for after work drinks are great and the ambience is worth it.

Excellent place to get breakfast, lunch or just drinks. Their coffees — the flat whites, lattes or expressos are probably among the best I’ve had so far. They really take their coffee seriously. Their sourdough pancakes and quinoa porridge are very awesome breakfast items –filling and just right to start your day off. I had a falafel burger for lunch — this was fantastic! Highly recommended to order with French fries and aoli. Their drinks are pretty good as well. Their Picante De La Casa is really good and highly recommended. They also have a good selection of single malts as well. I will be back when I come to London next time.

Really like this place! Cutest little café in the new Hoxton Hotel in Holborn. Love taking clients here for a little brekkie. Lovely décor! Gorgeous toilets! And very friendly staff, always! Normal I always have the avocado on toast with poached egg — always lovely, much better offering than in most places because at least they give you lots of avocado! Crumbled pistachios is a nice touch too. This time though I wanted eggs florentine! The obssession has come back! Its not on the menu, but as they seemed to have all the elements in different dishes I though id be cheeky and ask! No problem at all! Which is kind of predictable but still nice! They were lovely. One of the eggs wasnt runny though, which obviously is a little dissapointing but overall good dish. Highlight at Hubbard & Bell has to be the juices!!! Awesome offering of really flavoursome cold pressee juices! In a little bottle too, so you can always grab another bottle to go! Had a try at the Red one today which was great. Highly recommend Hard Green too! But i am adament they are all great!

Trendy spot in the Hoxton Hotel. I’ve had a few of their dishes and found the salads, mains and toasts really nice. Good spot for eating with a larger group, rather than a spot for couples.

I am very happy about Hubbard & Bell. Food is pretty good and offers a very delicious burger for lunch and dinner, while you can munch on pancakes, bagel with salmon and eggs benedict in the morning. Everything works well and service is so nice. Everyone serves us happily, they are smiling and are very attentive. Last, but no least: This place is so beautifully designed.

I’d read some reviews of Hubbard & Bell(and the Hoxton more generally) before heading there for dinner. The general conclusion was: great attention to detail, great design… just ok food. I’m here just to serve as an additional voice in that chorus: yes to detail, unhunh to design, and yet — and yet! — disappointment regarding food. The good: the service was really prompt, the food came out quickly, and although some things felt overpriced(the shrimp burger — actually a mix of shrimp and crab on a bun that disintegrates as you eat it — is 10 pounds for just the burger), if you choose wisely I think you can get some good dishes. I was impressed by their take on the wedge salad, for instance: a crispy, refreshing chunk of iceberg lettuce topped with some chunky buttermilk dressing and paired with some sweetly cured bacon. Notable expert level: fat perfectly rendered. It was a thing of beauty. Atop the food, the design details are on point. Beautiful seating options and varying arrangements across the Hoxton. Food served on mismatched china plates that ooze charm. Plugs at every booth should you need to stay wired. No feelings of being rushed, despite visiting at a peak time. Yes yes nailed it, yes. The not-as-good: the food wasn’t piping hot, and whereas some dishes provided ample to chow down on(see note on wedge salad, above), others were really sparse. Our table split the ricotta toast(with broad beans and chili) and it was extremely underwhelming; what read so well on the menu just tasted bland and dry on the plate. Maybe that’s a good metaphor for my feelings on Hubbard & Bell generally. In conclusion: go, get the bacon, get all the bacon. I’d be willing to try it again because I adore the space, and the staff was great. But… in no rush. Hopefully by the next round at Hubbard & Bell they will have worked out some of their kinks with the food. Unilocal note: just for drinks? Sure! Or pull up your newest Apple gear and sit down next to the table of Mac-heads pounding the keys at the communal tables.

Wish I had known earlier that a lovely lunch place like this existed in Holborn. On my last lunch date I went to hummus bros! Anyway I had«toast and rainbow trout»(the trout was almost like guacamole but was delicious) and a ceasar salad which to be honest wasn’t quite as good(chicken was a bit slimy, for want of a better description). I think both were around £10. My dining companion had a steak melt sandwich which was apparently very tasty but arrived, slightly comically, on a tiny plate with no garnish or accompaniment. This reads like a 3 star«a-ok» review rather than 4, but I liked the busy ambience and nice surroundings and if you maybe choose carefully and ask a few questions of the waiter you will be fine.

Just the right about of busy on a Saturday night! Between Dinner and Friends I was looking for a quick cocktail in Holborn, and having had great experiences in the Hoxton in Shoreditch, it would have been rude not to check out the younger sibling while in the area, It was a Saturday night, nice level of activity around the bar, good tunes from the DJ and a nice relaxed easy going vide, we settled for a few seats at the bar, and despite it being busy, we where acknowledge straight off and given menus, it was great to see the bar staff actively serve customers in order, refreshing to see in a busy bar! We ordered a few cocktails from the list, and it watched as the bar tender set up constructing our order, drinks we got in the end where perfectly served, and so so good! But for the fact we where off to meet people elsewhere I could have quite happily propped the bar up here all night long! Will be back for sure next time I’m in London!

While we stayed at the Hoxton Hotel(the Holborn branch), we once had breakfast«downstairs» at the Hubbart & Bell which conforms quite nicely to the hotel’s soho-house-like design concept. While this, strictly speaking, is not a hotel restaurant(which I usually try to avoid), it does serve as one of the Hoxton Hotel’s local watering(and eating) holes.(There is also am underground chicken place and a coffee bar on the ground floor.) And it does share the tendency of hotel restaurants to ever so slightly overprice the goods on offer. Having said that, the quality of the food was excellent, the waiting staff was nice(although there English wasn’t always as good as the food they served) and the overall décor was pleasing in a retro-meets-comfy kind of way. However, I would avoid sitting in the rather noisy and crowded back of the restaurant and instead opt for one of the lower tables near the front.

A cool brunch place! Been here twice now and on both occasions had good food. The first time we shared some eggs which were well prepared and satisfying and a really tasty ceased salad which looked amazing but left me a little hungry(I guess it was salad!!!) one complaint would be on the occasion we went as a group of 6 we were only served 5 pieces of bread… I also got beef ribs when I ordered pork, but it was actually really good. The venue is very open and has a separate bar area that I hear can get busy after work days, especially on Fridays. It has a feeling of a hotel about the place, and I think there are rooms available to stay in. There are loads of staff so getting served isnt a problem and they all seem knowledgable about the menu and friendly There is a good selection of coffees also. .

I came here for their advertised Thanksgiving menu. The atmosphere was lovely but quite loud for a Thursday evening. I started off with a DELICIOUS apple and ginger cocktail that was lovely – though the bartender forgot to make it when he was making drinks ordered by my group and had to be reminded twice before he got around to it. It was quite crowded so I couldn’t really fault him but he was rather rude when I finally caught his attention to make the drink I had ordered. Once we sat down for dinner, the waiter was nice but not very attentive(I had to ask for a refill on water 3 times) and the Thanksgiving meal(turkey with cranberry and green beans) was overcooked, over salted and quite tough – in short, not worth the £19 I paid for it. That being said, all of the non-Thanksgiving food I saw at tables around me looked delicious so it could have just been the mistake of ordering off the holiday menu. Also, they were out of pumpkin pie at our 6:30 dinner seating – the main reason for our visit to the restaurant. :’( In the absence of pumpkin pie I had an amaaazing banana split that turned out to be the highlight of my meal. All in all, I’d head back for cocktails and dessert but mediocre service and my very salty and rathered shriveled main left a bad taste in my mouth.

Just finished brunch at Hubbard & Bell. Now, while I ran a half marathon this morning, then walked from Kings Cross, the food and coffee Kylie and I ordered was delicious. We shared the steak and eggs(which is eggs florentine on a hashbrown, with two decent sized pieces of superbly cooked steak throw in for good measure) and the patty melt sandwich and fries. We also had a flat white, home brew and finished it all off with a cold brew. Note: Don’t wear a light denim blue shirt tucked into dark trousers. You will be confused for waiting staff, which were very polite and attentive.

After spending a week in the The Hoxton Hotel’s meeting room knocking out a big work project, I was ready to finally try the ever-busy attached bar and restaurant. At 5 o clock on the dot I asked the bartender my favorite question: what’s your favorite drink on the menu right now? After trying to sell me on the Hugo Sanchez(Gran centernario plata, kamm and son’s, agave, lime, persimmon and quince shrub) I vetoed the tequila and went for the refreshing and simple gin/lime/cucumber Eastern Standard.(But not after he REALLY tried to get me to set sail on the tequila boat by recommending the Picante de la Casa.) I guess I missed the notice on the menu about service charge(12.5%), because my £8 cocktail came to £9. A bit of an awkward surprise, but what can you do. I settled into an armchair near the lobby side of the restaurant(all open plan and the reception desk pushed so far back that this in no way feels like a hotel lobby) to wait for my gin accomplice Rachael E. By 630 the place was busting at the seams with mostly post-work office types, with a just enough creatives and hipsters thrown in to feel like you made the right choice in happy hour. By the time the DJ started at 7, it felt like a downright house party with standing room only. I wasn’t too inspired by the menu(for dinner anyway) so we headed on our way by 8pm. A good place for a well-made cocktail or a breakfast meeting just the right side of hip, but I wouldn’t peg it for a dinner spot.

This recently opened restaurant in the back of the Hoxton hotel has a trendy atmosphere with matching staff outfits and allows a peak at the food being prepared in the open kitchen. The open plan setting means things get a little noisy when it is busy. The food is an amazing twist on classic dishes with fresh ingredients. I would really recommended cured meats and the oxtail toast as starter, the duck(nice and pink) as main and the key lime pie dessert. Cocktails are similar classic twists and the homemade lemonade was a hit too! Highly recommended!
