I reaaaaaaaaaaaaally want to give this place a great review like everyone else. I mean… the place is totally old school barber style, great location, easy online booking, free drinks when you arrive… but in the end, I think it really comes down to the hair stylist and the end result. After all, a free beer and cool chairs are only short-term, while your new head of hair is a long-term project :) With that said, I felt like I got more of a wham bam thank you man type of haircut. Sometimes I do enjoy a quickly now and then, but not so much for my haircut. The guy before went 15 minutes over into my appointment(totally cool and shows the stylist is about quality over quantity), but oddly enough, my cut only lasted 30 minutes. I actually wasn’t sure if my haircut experience was over because I didn’t get the hot towel treatment that others received. After I think the stylist was done with my hair, I asked to use the restroom quickly and if there was anything else left to do, we could do that once I was back. When I got back upstairs, the next customer was already in the chair and I didn’t even get any acknowledgement, thanks, or even to finish the beer I had next to the sink! I awkwardly paid and promptly left… As for the haircut itself, I’m a pretty talkative and outgoing guy, but I couldn’t really click with the person, whom I shall not mention, cutting my hair. But no matter, as long as the cut is good, I’m ok with small chit chat. Now, perhaps I have unrealistic expectations, but if I wanted to go to a place where they cut my hair according to exactly what I tell them, I could easily go to a cheapo place. But if I want to give some freedom to the stylist to make suggestions, take a look at the shape of my head, take notice that the crown of my head much thinner than the front, and basically take lead in ensuring I walk out their door with a smile on my face to match my new rad hairdo, I come to places like Huckle. But sadly this was not the case… The top of my hair was cut to highlight the thinning parts, I had hair going to and fro in an unnatural parting of my hair, and it was strangely styled in the end. All in all, I felt like the guy cutting my hair could care less and I was just another haircut to get out of the way. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not high maintenance or anything so I can easily walk away from these things with no hard feelings, but still… I didn’t leave loving this place either. Plus, I’m a dude, so my hair will grow out and I’ll need another cut in a month or so. I would give my overall experience and haircut two stars. But my experience is based on one out of many stylists they have there, so maybe it was just my bad luck in the random selection. Plus, I saw many happy customers that day and I do like the establishment and location as well. So adding those items in, I could be nice and give it three stars. I’m still not sure if I will be back to get another person, but we’ll see next month!

I am still happy there are places left where you can say OOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMWWWWWWWWWW(aka oh my word) … The guys just know what they are doing in that joint. SO mark this: Service — Excellent Haircut — Amazing Beard trimming — Perfect(and i really mean that) I went for a haircut and beard trim and decided to get the full service as this is my first time. I have to be honest i was a bit stressed at the beginning as i didn’t know what to expect. Well i got perfection. I was assigned to Alfie and he made sure i looked my best when he was finished. A real gentlemen barber shop with a twist of new age. I cant wait to go again(come on hair grow back quickly)

The best haircut I’ve ever received. It was my last day in London, and I needed a trim. Huckle looked like the kind of classic barbershop that I like, so I decided to give it a shot. The result was… bittersweet. The haircut, administered by Lawrence, was nothing short of perfection. He even trimmed my beard with scissors, spending about ten minutes on my facial hair alone. No shitty looking buzzer lines or patchy clipper work. Just a natural looking beard fit for a Norse god. Absolutely masterful. And now the downside. I live in New York. What the hell am I going to do now? I’ve been expending considerable psychic energy willing my hair not to grow, but all I’ve managed to do is and get a migraine and pop a blood vessel in my left eye. If you’re lucky enough to live near Shoreditch, this is the place to be. But if you don’t, please use caution. Once you know true greatness, you can never go back.

Excellent old-school barbershop. The customer experience is excellent — you feel really well treated as well as looking smart at the end of it. Great grooming tips dispensed and various gels/waxes available to buy. It’s not cheap, but my hair doesn’t grow very quickly, so I feel it’s worth it.

Chris Ward, the owner of Huckle the Barber, has been keeping my husband’s hair in a fashionable state for the last couple of years. Until recently, this was done under the Murdock storefront. When the the small London chain decided to move in late 2012, Chris stayed and turned the shop into something even better. It’s a laid-back place with some expert scissor-wielders. Not only do they polish up my husband quite well but they also know how to treat a lady. On the few times I popped in to pick up my freshly coiffed guy so that we could poke around Shoreditch together, Chris was quick to offer a bottle of Howling Hops and a chat about music that made me feel right at home.
