If you are looking for a bargain lunch, this is not the place for you. Itsu is a higher end takeaway and eat in lunch joint with locations throughout London. They specialise in a selection of sushi and noodle soups. The sushi portions are large, but you pay for it. The Salmon Health & Happiness box(my favourite) contains 2 pieces of salmon sashimi sitting on a bed of shredded carrot and some disgusting seaweed, 6 salmon maki rolls, and 5 pieces of nigri sushi. It comes in at £7.95 but it will fill you up and the sushi is of a high quality. They also do an excellent range of soups which are pricey at £5.99 but are massive. Itsu appears to be committed to providing sustainable and ethically sourced ingredients and there is a large section on their website which explains where almost all the ingredients are sourced. For me, this is important. I don’t buy my lunch that often and when I do I would prefer to know that what I am buying is not harmful in any way, especially fish which I find can be especially disturbing these days. As well, they seem to be comitted to providing healthy food and clearly show the calories and fat at the point of purchase. This is unlike Marks and Spencer where I am shocked by the fat content in some of their sandwiches. If you want a quality takeaway lunch, healthy food and are prepared to pay the price I cannot recommend it enough. The staff are friendly and they must be treated well as the turnover is quite low. The premises are clean(which is always a bonus when you are dealing with raw fish) and there is a concise choice. You aren’t going to get anything beyond salmon and tuna sushi wise but I think they realize that’s what people want. And for those cold days, the soups are a treat.
