This is a live Unilocal. Please note, heat of the moment may be an influence! I wasn’t going to Unilocal, that is only for special occasions. It’s kinda expensive here and the drinks aren’t that good. The music is pretty cool… But the chips are literally the best chips in the world, end of story. So there you go!

Really nice little place. Food wasn’t grate but was good. Mood was grate and so was the music. Air temperature was a bit worm and it was a bit stuffy. But will definitely go again.

Such a killer little venue! Great tapas, perfect drinks and even better jazz music and small town corner jazz bar vibe.

This is a fantastic little jazz club. Make reservations– you will thank yourself that you don’t have to stand in this little cramped place. Sit, order some tapas style food, have a drink and admire the art of Sam Shaker while you wait for the band to go on. This was a legendary little venue that Amy Winehouse adored being in and performing at. Take a night out and let’s get real jazzy.

Small jazz bar with great music. Reservation is advised, but you could be lucky and get a table without it as well. Cocktail pitchers are really good.

Decent cover charge of 5 pounds, but the place is REALLY, REALLY small. The drinks list isn’t very good nor is their wine list, it’s not somewhere you go to enjoy a really good glass of wine, but I really enjoyed the act they had on that night.

service: Good — very friendly Seating: horrible — I couldn’t leave my seat to go to the toilet as there was no space whatsoever between tables music: OK– nothing special Food: not that good– we got McDonald’s on the way back home Drinks: absolutely bad incident: the next table spilled her drink on my new dress(of course with tiny crammed tables) that was going to happen on way out I had to ask 5 times for someone to give me my jacket !! it took around 15 minutes to retrieve my jacket going back: NO

This is a tiny venue on Soho which is a wonderful little hideaway and a place that you must visit if you’re into your music. They have all types of music here — I once played a set and from the perspective of the performer it was brilliant. As it is so small, there is a great intimate vibe and it tends to be more sociable than the larger bars and music venues. The audience were a great crowd and having been a few times since, this first experience wasn’t just a one-off good night. You can also eat here and they offer a set menu for an extremely reasonable price — around £11 for 3 courses. The food is also quite fancy for the price — grilled salmon and Cajun chicken for example. I always have a memorable night here and it is definitely a true hidden gem. If you like the music, you can get up and dance and the chances are the people on the next table who you’ve never met will join you! There have also been some huge names play here so you never know who you may end up spotting on stage!

In the centre of crazy manic Soho, on Greek Street hides this fantastic minuscule Jazz Bar! Ten of us went for a birthday party recently. It was perfect because we all love to have fun! The venue is very small and narrow and the stage is the same level as the floor therefore you really feel like a part of the band. We had the whole area in front of the band, due to the size of our group. It was £10 a person to get in if eating and £15 if not. The three course set menu meal was £10.95. It was delicious, maybe portion sizes were a little small for the men but they were not too concerned. The band started after our meal which was perfect timing. They were incredible! The sounds and upbeat vibes got us all up dancing, clicking our fingers — it was great. The band spoke to us, one of them quite fancying my Mum, who is by nature an absolute flirt so very comical to watch especially for my Dad! A whole evening in one venue can sometimes sound quite boring. However the meal was a good time to catch up and chat with one another, then once the band came on and we were all dancing the night just flew. Some skipping while others stumbling out at 1am in the morning!

Jazz After Dark is a nice change from the more expensive jazz clubs in London. The food is very good value and the music is usually pretty good. The standard is not as high as somewhere like Ronnie Scott’s a few streets away, but considering it is less that half the price, it is a good place for a cheaper night out. The band I saw last did mostly covers and they played to a pretty good standard. I wouldn’t want to pay loads to go there but I would recommend other people to try it. The food is Greek, mostly and very nice too.

I’ve been to this great little bar quite a few times now. Its a real find and very different. Quite kitsch and quirky. The food is ok but the main reason to go is not the grub its for the atmosphere and music. I’ve been here when Amy Winehouse popped in and got up to sing with the band. She was amazing! I’ve been on a few different nights. The quality of the music can vary a bit. But there is a regular band playing there called BluesMix(the one Amy sang with) who are fantastic. I see they are playing this week(Sept 26th) and I’ll be there. Recommended! Alan

I have been here twice and was rather sozzled on both occasions. This is unfortunate as, if memory serves(which is somewhat debatable), it is quite a cool little place. I would go so far as to call it a cool little ‘joint’. It seems to get rather crowded quite quickly, but it’s a pleasant, happy sort of crowding as opposed to the sweaty, mildly desperate kind. The music was very good, but intermittently baffling(my friend informed me that I was a philistine). I would definitely recommend it as a last stop on a liver punishing night in Soho, but am unsure as to whether I would enjoy it if I actually started my evening there. Having never been in any condition to sample the food, I can’t really comment on that side of things. Oh, and the oil paintings, which I initially dismissed as unbearably tacky, grew on me as time passed. I almost quite like them now.

Definitely recommended. It’s a reeeeeasonably priced(by London standards!) and strictly informal jazz bar none of the pretentiousness you often find in jazz bars. The lager selection isn’t too bad. I haven’t tried the food. And I can’t remember much about the music but it definitely made for a pleasant background noise(I was sitting by the window so couldn’t even see the musicians tucked away at the back). The best thing about this place though, in my opinion, is not the music, nor the prices, nor the drinks, nor the array of oil paintings displayed at the top of the walls and all depicting various celebrities amy winehouse mick jagger david beckham the queen etc. I think they’re for sale. No, the best thing about jazz after dark is that one of the celebrity paintings in particular, hanging above the door, depicts little Maddy. If I was a little more drunk, I probably would have bought it to hang in my living room for visitors to admire.

I definitely will come back and check out another band here. The place is small, you are really close to the music. 5 pound cover charge did not seem outrageous compared to 25 around the corner, cocktails are 5.95 if I remember correctly. I am just still undecided about the band we had seen. It was ok, but did not get me excited. Will go back and check

Good music, good service, good prices, good food, good cocktails, good beers, good location. Jazz after dark is pretty good JAD is a pretty small venue, and its layout is a bit of a problem — if you’re sitting near the door you can’t really see the musicians that well and the music gets a bit dampened. However, if you can get a seat near the stage then you’re basically sitting right next to the musicians, who are generally of a good standard. The food is pretty nice — I can recommend the lamb koftas and the cheeseburger.

Jazz after Dark is a very(very) small venue in Soho, one of those hidden little gems that reeks of pure jazz and soul, without the big name rip offs, its just a small jazz club that loves its music. It’s so small the band are almost sitting on your knee, its cosy and it’s cool. If there weren’t a smoking ban, this place would be the typical smoky jazz club. Singers such as Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty as well as jazz and blues legends will often drop by for off the cuff sets. The photos on the walls of previous patrons is like a who’s who of music. The last time I went there I took my mother and we dines there. Let’s just say the food isn’t what you come here for, although its edible and fairly good value for money. The band that were due to play didn’t turn up, although they assured us this had never happened before, and another band were then called in at late notice. Unfortunately, when they eventually did play they couldn’t play for long as we were informed that Pete Doherty was playing a secret gig there that night. After a bit of resistance they let all the diners stay as we had missed our band, unfortunately as the room began to fill with Doherty fans my mother(who I was with) felt queasy and wanted to go home. Still, the place had the buzz and the air of something thrilling, reminding you of what it must have been like in the sixties with a whole new era of bands playing there. So you could look at my night and say, well it wasn’t very good — the band didn’t turn up, the food wasn’t great, then you had to leave just as a secret gig was about to start, but you know what? I still love this place, it has an air of rock n roll and you never know how your night there will end. I would still recommend this place to any fan of music to experience what a real jazz club should be like.
