I’m giving this place a 3 because the first time I came in here, the girl that was working was a complete idiot and totally unhelpful. The second time I came in there were a few people working and one helped me pick out a nice champagne for a gift and was very helpful. I will have to come back for a 3rd try to see how it is, but they do have a good selection and they are right down the street from my flat, so it really couldnt’ be any more convenient.

I’ve been going here for a year now. This shop could be improved. It’s Feb and they still have Christmas biscuits on the shelf. The staff is completely aloof except once in a while when you catch them on a good day… they just don’t seem to be a happy bunch. I can’t tell you how many times i have had to listen to them complain about everything under the sun while I look around. Compare this to the Nicholas next store where they know my name and welcome me. Never once has anyone helped me with the wine here [ed– finally the other day someone helped me with the wine, kinda]. The food selection is good, far better than Tesco, but it’s a huge mix of stuff in a small space and too disorganized for casual viewing. This would be fine if they helped you as soon as you entered, like the fruit and veg stall around the corner. I probably could have bought hundreds of quid of cheese here if they made any attempts to engage me. They really just seem to expect people who come in to know what the store has already. But they can’t be bothered to help otherwise. They also need a big time spring cleaning… they could get rid of 30% of their stuff.

You don’t find an honest shop nowadays and Jeroboams is a pretty honest shop. Me and my sister goes pretty often and they are very straight with their sales with things like: «Yes, this cheese is ok– you MUST eat it tonight.»; «No, the brie on special? that’s going out– why don’t you try…»; «You MUST get the epoisse special today, it is perfect» They also do a really yummy non– force– fed duck pâté, but generally they think we are mad that get so excited about it(probably because I asked them whether it made them happier when eating said pâté knowing the duck died happy) They also sell goods fro Sally Clarke’s– most notable are her oat biscuits/cakes(it is sort of between the two, very crumbly) and florentines(always insist on one with a big cherry) Not sure if they are extra nice to us because they think we are completely koo koo but we like them lots!

There are 10 little Jeroboam shops dotted around London, each one unique in its appearance, offerings and even sometimes name(ie Milroy’s in Soho is a Jeroboam shop with a focus on whiskey)… But this is about the Holland Park Jeroboam’s, apparently their«flagship food shop» and one of my favourite places to pop into — usually when friends are coming over and I quickly need some good wine and non-Tesco brand snacks. There is a great cheese selection(positioned just inside the front door, its odors famously emanating onto the street) and their olives and charcuterie are fantastic. They also have shelves of gourmet goods including fine vinegars, olive oils, biscuits etc.

Jeroboams in Holland Park is part of the small upmarket chain of fine wines and delicatessen stores across West London. They have a good choice of cheese — this is the main reason I go there — ham, and wine. They have some great French soft cheeses(this is why they get 3 stars) but quite pricey. But I am always puzzled by the poor service there, it is professional but so unwelcoming! Try to get a smile out of them I never managed. For wine I really prefer to shop next door at Nicolas where I get much better Gallic-style service and advice and, as far as I can tell, better prices.
