Over six months ago we took our Fiat in for its scheduled Z Tech paint protection application. We also needed to have a couple things fixed: The weather strip/seal on the hatch back had come loose and need to be glued in place, the front brush guard had fallen off from underneath the front, the custom pin striping was chipping off and all of the Fiat emblems had become oxidized from water leaking into them. After waiting several hours only the Z Tech application was complete. They couldn’t get in touch with the pin striping person and they had none of the parts in stock. They promised to order the parts and call us when they were in and schedule a time for installation. Six months ago. We made several calls for a status update over the past six months but never received a call back. We recently received a reminder in the mail that it was time for another Z Tech application. This began a long series of calls to the service manager and, eventually, the general manager to make sure the parts were in stock and the pin striper would be there before we scheduled an appointment. Not until after the 7th call did we finally get a call back. The car is now in the shop. We are patient people and don’t complain much. This, however, is ridiculous. Never again will we buy a car from Scottsdale Fiat.

There are a couple of things you might want to know before trying this place. First, while their main product is undeniably a ‘pie’, the word unfortunately sets up the wrong expectations for what you’re going to get. Discard ye images of shortcruste or ceramick dishe with coverlet. The best description I can think of is «what a Greggs steak bake wishes it could be.» Soft pastry with only a thin layer of golden flake on the outside, filled with meat and a very thick gravy. And filled really is the word, no air in there. They’re not massive things, but they are tasty and satisfying. The second thing to know is that their fries are particularly good. Unlike many fast-food places, they fry to order, so what you get is very fresh and of course, very hot! Make sure you give them a moment to cool down. Well salted, just the right amount of crispy shell without destroying the insides(no mean feat for thin fries), they keep me coming back as much as the pies. And I am rather fond of the pies. My recommendation is to get their meal deal of pie, fries and a drink(shame they only include the ordinary coke-brand cans in the deal, but can’t have everything). If you get it to takeaway, it’s very good value indeed. If you eat it in, it’s still fairly good value, just also ask for gravy!(You probably could get gravy to take away too, but I suspect it would all get rather messy very quickly.) Jumbuck’s is a rather strange place, falling between categories for me. Its main business is clearly fast-food takeaway, people coming in on the lunch rush to get their hot meal to eat elsewhere. But unlike normal takeaways, I have eaten my meal in a couple of times, since the room is bright and spacious. This makes it closer to the feel of a café, only it doesn’t really come across as one of those either. Not to say that I haven’t spent a couple of hours there with a laptop using their wifi, it just seems somehow different. I leave you, gentle reader, to make of it what you will.

Jumbuck’s is alright. They sell Tim Tams which I am absolutely addicted to and also shapes and other Aussie stuff that I don’t know. The pies they sell are really yummee but the prices are a bit too high for my budget. Staff is really friendly and it’s so easy to get there from She Bu station.

A friend of mine show me this bakery a few days ago, the pies are really delicious! I had Godfather Pie with chicken, it was really good! I never tried Australian pies before but surely I‘ll try the rest of the pies soon.

I like this store. It is full of Aussie food stuffs. It is known for its jaffle pies, but there are cakes, sweets, biscuits, sodas and numerous other candies and sweet stuff that although bad or you, taste oh so good. Finding myself in yet another pie shop, I had to try one. It was midnight and the selection as expected wasn’t at its maximum. I went for the Kiwi pie that is a combination of steak, mince and cheese. Cheese? I composed myself and picked a nice hunk of sponge cake smothered in chocolate and coconut whilst resisting all the other brightly coloured preservative laden sweetness. It is worth pointing out that the pie only costed £2.50. I will admit I am a picky pie eater, I know good pie. This jaffle Kiwi concoction had all the features of what I unfortunately dislike: soft pastry that gives no resistance when you bite, no chunks of meat inside just tiny slithers and thick meaty gravy. I also couldn’t get my taste buds around the cheese either. This is my personal quirk, but cheese has no place inside a steak and mince pie. Pastry aside, I was impressed with the service and choice within Jumbucks. It shows the Aussies are up there in regards to junk food mania as Americans. If you have a sugar craving and want to get imaginative, pop into Jumbucks, you’ll be very happy with the choice.

Jumbuck’s is an Aussie chain selling a variety of jaffle pies with different fillings. I use the word ‘Aussie’ rather than Australian as they’re aiming for friendly chummy atmosphere in their restaurants. The flying saucer shaped pies are made in a jaffle iron, which is a cooking implement designed to make a pie using 2 pieces of bread and some filling. Apparently, these are used over campfires in Australia but Jumbuck’s have refined their pies to be made with pastry instead of bread The pies come with a variety of fillings, both savoury and sweet. There are chicken, beef, vegetable and sweet options. My Aussie Rules pies containing chunky steak, bacon and cheese was enjoyable with thin crispy pastry and generous filling going to the top of the pie. It does take a little knack to eat the pie without the filling falling out! The pies come in 2 sizes with appropriate pricing. There are meal options with mash, chips, peas and beans available as sides. This makes an interesting alternative to burgers and kebabs as fast food.
