I always find getting the idea of getting a hair cut such a chore, but then always seem to enjoy it when I’m there. Maybe that’s the sign of a good hairdressers, who knows?! Anyway, I don’t live in Kentish Town anymore and I still come back to this place. No appointments suits me fine, I wandered in at 1pm on a Sautrday and was seated right away. Cash only is a pain though, but cash machines galore down the high street so no biggy. I enjoyed a wash, cut and blow dry, very relaxing all in all for a reasonable £16. WIN. The stylist knew what I was after and went about it efficiently. Now, everyone goes to the haridresser looking for something different, I feel it’s that kind of variety we makes us human so much fun. Not just the hair style, but the conversation. Do you speak? Do you make small talk? Do you bring a book, magazine or headphones and pretend not to want to talk to the person who is standing behind you with scissors perilously close to your ears? Well I wouldn’t bring the latter, definitely had a hairdresser cut through an earphone lead before. This time I wasn’t in a chatty mood, the stylist was on the ball and realised this straight away so just got down to business. Thank god for that! Definitely fast becoming my regular(not my local though, I live in South London!)

Okay, so. First things first: it’s up to £33 for a women’s haircut(cheaper if you don’t have long hair); it’s a walk-in only salon; it’s a cash-only salon. I’ve been moaning about the state of my hair for some time now, but have been putting off getting a haircut because most places are at least £45(more, if you have long hair, which I do) and I don’t have many personal recommendations on salons. Decided to go here after a friend had a good experience with a spur-of-the-moment decision to dye a chunk of her hair purple, and the gamble seems to have paid off. I went about 30 minutes after they opened on Sunday and was taken in right away. There were a few women waiting, but I’m not sure for what. For another hairdresser? Eh, who knows. I just wanted to get in and get out. My hairdresser checked in to see what I wanted, and I basically just wanted to take a few inches off but keep the overall layered style. She did that with no difficulties, and maintained a light conversation. Now, because of the lack of appointments, it might be difficult to guarantee you’ll get the same hairdresser every time. But I do like being able to just duck in and get a cut without much thought. Was it the best haircut I’ve ever had? Or a luxurious experience? No to both of these questions. But considering the cheap cost — yes, guys, £33 is at least £10−15 cheaper than everywhere else I’ve found(discounting the £6 places which I don’t trust) — and the easy location right by the tube station, I will be returning.
