Kilim

This place doesn’t seem so good anymore — last two visits were rather meh. My partner says the happy guy who was always at the grill isn’t there anymore so this may be why the food tastes less good.

It’s a sad state of affairs to have to deduct stars but I’ve ordered takeaway from Kilim on more then one occasion and pretty much every time there is a leak of some sort in the bag because they shmoosh it all into a scooter!
The first time she was very apologetic so I thought it was a one-​off but since then it has happened again and again. The last time was a couple of days ago and she’d already left when I opened the bag to find the Patlican Soslu had actually bust open and there was aubergine and tomato all spilled out. SO disappointing and such bad service paying for something that you don’t even get to eat. I had to scoop it all out of the bag and scrape it off everything else. Nice!
I can’t deduct any more than one star though because it is damn tasty food and their halloumi makes me happy. Just bring my takeaway in a car, for gawd’s sake!

Well, that’s just a taste. It is a headache over the phone, but you cannot beat, quality, hot, healthy kebabs that come with fresh bread, rice and a nice tin of salad and don’t forget the yummy sauces.
We love eating here, less since they renovated. It looked like this wicked cave thing before, now it’s pretty standard. Foods still great, but I liked the Empire Strikes Back feel they had going on.
The charcoal grill is massive and really impressive. The smell will get you when you are walking up to the joint.
They have the great chilli and garlic sauce, but for some ridiculous reason they only put these on the wrapped dishes and they do not offer it with any other grilled items. They will give it to you if you ask though and it goes great with the other kebabs. I love their Tavuk Sis, Adana Kofte.
They are quite good with delivery, but you have to say everything on the phone twenty times. It will take an extra five minutes to order the sauces (over the phone) but they are delicious.

I want to change my review to 5 stars from previous 4. Turkish food in a cave! Fresh, tasty, food cooked over charcoal. Friendly service. Good portions. Great value lunch menu. A Muswell Hill favourite for lunch or dinner.

I go here frequently; its my favorite Ocakba — type place in the area. Recently (spring 09?) got a makeover. The food is what you would expect; doner, shish, beyti, etc but its all done really nicely, the food is good, its unpretentious, and its a pleasant place to sit down. If you’re looking to take out the doner sandwiches are huge and inexpensive.
