How many kebab houses do you know are on Facebook and Twitter, and keep in keen contact with their friends, and respond to blog posts about them? Who always smile when you enter their store? I have lived nearby for six years and only just discovered this gem of a local business. Although the title for ‘best felafel in The Bush’(that is, in Shepherd’s Bush) is disputed, this place definitely has its followers. It’s no more than a quick and dirty(no, no — it’s not actually dirty) fast food joint, but they get my four stars for the quality, taste, and value for money of their felafels, which are beautiful.

Just moved into the area and to be perfectly honest(ignorance showing here) I wasn’t sure what the big deal was with this falafel stuff. Called into King Solomon’s for a kebab basically which was pretty damned good, though I was quickly politely advised that I was in fact buying a «shawarma» and not a kebab! So back to falafel, Simply the best thing I’ve discovered in years. Eating one now. If you are a carnivore and have ever pooh poohed all that veggie nonsense, just try a falafel sandwich from these guys. You will feel like you have died and gone to heaven. Oh and by the way if he asks you about sauces, dressings etc? Just nod and say everything. I promise you, you will be in for a treat. Long live King Solomon’s! Thats all I’ll say.(Oh and the falafel sandwiches are fantastic cold the next day, they may not approve me saying that though?)

Last weekend we were in shepherds bush and wanted to find somewhere good to eat, we both wanted to try Lebanese cuisine, as we’ve heard it was really good, and this we found in King Soloman Kebab and Mediterranean restaurant. We were greeted with a smile and served quickly. The felafel’s are to die for, and the parsley salad although a very simple dish, was heavenly. We had a Lamb curry for our main course and this was fragrant as it was spicy, the meat melting in the mouth. The only downside was i didn’t get the recipe for the felafel’s or the parsley salad! We found the prices extremely reasonable too, definitely worth another visit.

As far as kebab shops go this one is very clean and pleasant. The falafel is very good and I would recommend it as a cheap and relatively healthy-ish convenient dinner. Well, convenient for me as it’s on my way home, but probably not convenient if you don’t live in Shepherd’s Bush. What is particularly nice about this place is the non-pervy staff and the little pavement tables where residents of the Uxbridge Road are often to be found drinking a mug of mint tea.
