This store is awesome! They have a huge range of different chocolates and candies. Even sweets that you can’t get anywhere else. I really like the choice and different options. It’s a bit pricey though, but I’m sure that sweets lovers will love this place and find their favourite secret sweets.

Ironically this place should be called Kingdom of Bitter, based on the owner who is an older woman that hates kids. Incredibly nasty and all her employees live in fear which is why they are always hiring. One of the best things about Unilocal is that you can chose to give your money to good people and not to mean, rude people.

So viele Süßigkeiten auf einem Haufen… Wow…

Somewhat expensive in all its offerings(such as £1.89 for 100g of pick ‘n’ mix or £5.99 for a bag of Hershey pieces) but Kingdom of Sweets is still a joy to behold and a pleasure to see along Oxford Street as the variety is a feast upon the eyes and a flurry of imagination. There is chocolate that looks distinctly like utensils such as a spanner or corkscrew, there are sugar-free Hersheys, ice cream flavoured Oreos, the most variety of gum that I’ve ever seen, beer-flavoured sweets within their pick ‘n’ mix options and even Jack Daniel’s brand of BBQ sauce. All the shelves and walls are full to the brim, multicoloured and verging on overload — a dentist’s nightmare! Frankly ranging from bizarre to inspirational, Kingdom of Sweets certainly is abundant in originality and choice.

After a stressful and tiring day I needed to br given a bit of energy and this place did the trick. It has the décor of brightly coloured joy that a sweet shop needs, a magnificent display that is a real pleasure. I enjoyed the pick and mix sweets I took away and each sweet was big, giving me a feeling of value. To the über discerning they were a tiny tiny fraction dry, maybe the displays of each kind is so large that the stock turns more slowly. As a result the sweets are out in the air for that little bit longer. It will always be cheaper to buy packeted sweets from a non Central London supermarket and pick and mix costs that little more. However that is not the point, it was fun and I took about 10 –15 sweets and enjoyed it. A great treat, for health I would do in moderation. Also 20 minutes on I do feel a bit queezy, I would do it again but maybe eat less sweets…

One of my favourite ruses is to say to people that I’ve told them a million times never to exaggerate — being from the UK, I love irony as a tool of comedy So, as you can guess, I’m not a fan of undeserved hyperbole. Now, what does one understand from the word ‘kingdom’? It must be pretty big if Richard III offers to swap his kingdom for a horse in Shakespeare’s play So, I did approach this sweet shop with a healthy degree of skepticism that it could represent a whole kingdom of sweets. However, first impressions were good — large trays of a good variety of pick and mix sweets covered the entire left hand side of the shop On the right hand side, there were pre-packaged confectionery and I suddenly spotted American brands like Hershey. Excitedly, I looked for peanut butter M&Ms because you may not believe this but M&M World in London doesn’t carry PB M&Ms! Sadly, I couldn’t spot them but I decided to ask a store assistant, who smiled and led me to the back of the shop where the PB M&Ms were displayed. £2.20 for a small bag but beggars can’t be choosers OK, for stocking American candy, Kingdom of Sweets can call itself a kingdom. Though I think they may be sponsored by the British Dental Association :-) As for M&M World, I’m afraid you’re more of a tiny village as you don’t even stock your own PB M&Ms
