This is an usual place for City meetings, but I was hugely disappointed. Kirin was a nice, delicious and culturally distinctive Chinese restaurant. But it’s new menu has been a fundamental joke — it changes Kirin into an extremely ordinary ‘Chinatown’ restaurant even without a properly cooked Chinese dish. Authenticality was lost! The waitress told me that new menu was created by the chef at Hutong. Come on, Hutong’s food isn’t proper Chinese food at all, it is shame this disease spreads to the city. Please give me back the original Kirin!

We had dim sum lunch and FOUND A SILVERTOOTHINTHEFOOD !!! The staff were also very rude, even accusing us of putting the tooth in the food. We shouldn’t have paid at all for this traumatic experience. Think the Unilocal community deserves a proper warning about this place.

OMG, always wondered why there aren’t any good Chinese restaurants in the city and someone listened! A Chinese colleague recommended that place, so decided to go yesterday. And was glad at the choice! The food was so delicious almost like home cooked food. It is frequented by the Chinese diaspora, which is always a good sign. The menu which i had checked online was very interesting too, not the usual sweet and pork rubbish! We had beef tripe in chili this was a cold starter and hot and sour soup. Followed by Mongolian venison, mapo tofu, choi sum in garlic and aubergine in chili! Mouth is still watering from the taste of the lovely food. The flavours were so delicate and light with the barest hint of any sauce. They do dim sum in the afternoon, can’t wait to go back for that and also try the other dishes. The staff is very friendly and even offered us free drinks. Also have karaōke, perfect for an evening out with colleagues.

I have dim sum cravings once a week, and working in the City isn’t convenient for quick jaunts to Chinatown. Ping Pong doesn’t really fulfill the craving either. Luckily Kirin is having a 30% off discount currently for both its lunch box specials(9 quid for tea and selections such as duck and rice, roast pork and rice, beef hoi fun, vermicelli and spring roll) and its dim sum menu(includes soup dumplings for 7 quid, shrimp dumplings, pork buns, chicken dumplings, siu mai ranging from 3 – 5 quid). It’s on the pricier end, but pretty decent for its location and perfect when I need a quick takeaway.
