Fairly good lunch buffet with Indian, Chinese and Italian good. They also have a Mongolian style, make-your-own-noodles thing which is fun. They have soft serve I cream and cake and fruit for dessert. The buffet is reasonably priced. The service is very attentive. Overall I highly recommend this place for a quick bite to eat before you catch your train.

Food is what you would expect. However Kitchin refused to honour free drink offer when checked in and because of that it gets a one star, and will report to Unilocal

I went there on a Friday night because it seemed a good place for a leaving party as the place is big and since it is all-you-can-eat buffet, it would have given us enough time to wait for some late colleagues and time to eat slowly as we chatted. WRONG! You can only stay for two hours max or they will charge you £5 extra. Second, the service. Rude and unprofessional. It took them ages to ask for drinks, bring them to the table and to refill them. There were lots of people working, but they seemed to be lost all over the place. And come on, it is a buffet, you don’t really have to worry that much about customer service! As our friends were arriving, the waitress that was serving us, kept coming to the table to let us know, that if you don’t want to drink or eat anything, you also have to pay £5 just to sit with your friends. Never seen something like that before… Food was ok. I have experienced better, anyway. Big variety, but mostly Indian influence which would have been perfect if they were not saying Italian + Chinese + other cuisines. Drinks are pricey. £3 for a soda is not worth it. Also the food is pricey for the quality they offer. £20 is a bit tooooooooooooooooo much for that place! Oh! And be very careful if you want to split the bill and pay with different cards! Even if they are able to do it easily, they will complain and tell you off!

The food was ok at best but the worst part was the service. The waiters were rude to us. They literally kick us out of the restaurant at closing time. We did not even get to finish. We were not staying too late or anything like that. The food really was not that good. It did not taste good and seemed like it was left outside for a long time. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The restaurant is relatively cheap for London. Our dinner buffet was about 18 pounds, but even then it is not worth it because the quality and service were so bad.

Quick glance: + Great for large group + Take reservation + Large variety of food — Mediocre quality — Pricey drinks I came to Kitchin N1 on a Saturday night as part of a large hen party(20+ girls!). The great thing is, Kitchin N1 takes reservation for large groups and there’s plenty of space in the restaurant if you pre-book. The variety of food means there’s something for almost everyone. The drinks are a little pricey especially if you go for cocktails, which seem to come in miniature glasses. The food itself is mediocre in flavour. On a busy Saturday night, though, there’s enough turnover so at least the food is always hot.

Lunch price would be worth it, but £15.99/adult on Sat night was too much to pay for what that they offered. And the restroom? Let’s just say my 13 year-old son refused to use it.

Srsly? An attempt at a low-price yet upmarket buffet place? Curry with your pizza? Kitchin N1 looks relatively swanky from outside in its New Kings Cross digs with glass walls and pan-Asian décor but inside it’s not much more than a dining hall with a hundred different dishes spending their 3rd hour under the heatlamps. The buffet format offers everything from below-par hummus to below-par chow mein noodles. It’s a smörgåsbord of disappointing dishes that should only please the hungriest of student gangs with nothing better to do than starve for days and then feast on low budget nosh. I tried to stick with a region for my two visits to the benches. A plate of two curries with basmati rice, tarka dal, cucumber, poppadoms and chutney worked well enough to be not gross. A second plate of pitta, hummus, Greek salad and a freshly cooked kofta was probably the smartest choice in the room. Neighbouring tables literally had curry with sushi. I guess this place serves a purpose. Like where to go to really overdo your 5:2 diet feast days. Or where to discover the next unexpected fusion food combination.

This is certainly a different eating experience, since buffets are totally not common in London. There’s a huge variety of ethnic cuisines all in one place, which is cool, but it’s all a bit weird to put together on one plate. The food isn’t bad, but there’s a natural decreased quality when food is made in bulk and to sit out. The real difficulties I had were with the service/staff. For the most part, it was alright, but they had an attitude about my large party. We had made a reservation for 16, but only 12 showed up. No big deal, right? Just slide one table away. It’s not like it was even a busy night. On top of that though, we were unceremoniously hurried out at the end, because our reservation was only for two hours… mind you nobody was coming in to take our place, so I’m not sure what the harm was in letting us stay. The bathrooms are a bit terrifying to be honest, because they’re doing some work in the back-of-house. Also, the atmosphere inside is nice – it’s an interesting fusion with warm colors, and the location of the buffet central in the space makes the food a nice centerpiece. It just wasn’t a great customer experience, and isn’t that always what makes the real difference?

I’ve been here twice as I wanted to give it another go and I have to say there were mixed reactions. Positives Good selection, nice seats, good ambience Negatives Terrible service(Staff didn’t seem to care, poor quality of food it seems like a tourist trap) Not recommended for a nice evening out.

I went on their Sunday roast day, there were 3 large parties and about 3 – 4 other smaller tables. When we were shown to our table, we weren’t asked what we’d like to have to drink, we were asked if we were okay with the price of £10.99(which I clearly researched what the price was prior to arriving). I tend to judge service on how long my water glass is empty, and I had to ask them to refill our water glasses several times. While it advertises itself as a buffet with a variety of cultural foods, 75% of the selection was of Indian influence. Food was mediocre for a buffet, and definitely not worth the price. But interior décor was very nice.

since i’m american, i figured a buffet like this would be the perfect cure to a long and depressing day. i came here around 6:30(right when they open for dinner) and prepared myself for a cheap feast. the buffet cost £15(which was about £5 more than i wanted to spend) and featured foods from places around the world, like india, china, italy and thailand. only the fried mushrooms stuck out to me as particurally good. everything else was passable,* but nothing special. it’s a buffet, so you can eat loads but unless you’re really in the mood to eat and eat, it’s probably better to go somewhere nicer and enjoy a regular sized meal(which you could get for cheaper and definitely better tasting) * except the oysters, which had fruit flies going crazy all around them… i would probably stay away from the sushi here as well ** also they were slow as fuck at refilling our water, which is my biggest pet peeve. they were nice though

I went to this place again just recently and found there food selection to have increased and for them to have things like oysters on the menu. Its all buffet style, the food is not excellent but it okay for the price you pay. Its almost low quality food for a budget priced buffet. Not bad though, good place to go for birthdays etc.

I stopped here with my parents for lunch when we were unable to get a table at the nearby(and excellent) tapas place Camino as they’re in the process of renovating their main restaurant. The interior is clean and stylish, though as we were at the table nearest the door we were treated to an extremely loud bang every time someone came in or out of the restaurant — that door is badly in need of a slow-closing mechanism! The service was a little mediocre — we had attentive(though unsmiling) service when being seated and when we paid but had to go and find someone to order drinks! We had a good look around the buffet which had a pretty good variety of food though a slightly unusual mix. Curries next to chinese food next to garlic mushrooms next to tuna pizza next to bean salad! I wish it had a bit more of an identity to pull it all together. We all opted for curries and rice, the vegetable one and that day’s chef special(a mix of aubergine and potato). Both were pretty tasty though could perhaps have done with some extra spice. Not necessarily the hot kind(though I wouldn’t have minded) but the flavour kind of spice. We also tried some of the little nibbly things and I can recommend in particular the mini vegetable samosas as they’re delicious. I could have filled half my plate with them and gone away happy! For dessert we tried out a mysterious fruit custardy thing(the desserts are in need of labels). Unfortunately the fruit turned out to be melon, which I dislike, but the custardy coating was lovely and custardy. All in all it was a pleasant meal for a reasonable price and I would return again if I was in the area and looking for this kind of meal(but would prefer the tapas round the corner!).

This restaurant cost £15 per person for the buffet, and I was not at all pleased with the food. They served lumps of Indian Curries, Chinese stir-fries, «Thai food» and very disgusting Japanese food. I swear the Sushi tasted like candle wax. They charge separate for drinks, so don’t think that you’re in the clear just yet. The décor is something that I don’t mind, as the restaurant is beautifully decorated. The service however, is horrible, and it took them about 12 minutes and 17 seconds to bring our drinks after we asked for more. Yes, I timed it too. Go somewhere else, this place is just mediocre.

I’m sorry to say that this buffet was about as pedestrian as any other buffet goes — horribly soggy deep fried items like chips, onion rings, etc. and cheap carnival pizza. Most of the dishes, Chinese, Italian and Indian were highly under seasonsed and not worth trying. I’m upset that I wasted my calories on that place, but thought I’d give it a whirl based on the positive feedback. I normally stay away from buffets for this reason, nothing really tastes good, there’s just plenty of it. The saving grace is that the restaurant itself is very large, clean and is attractively designed. The kitchen looks to be clean as well which is a definite plus. However nice the interior this restaurant may be, the food is still unappealing.

Why oh why would you do a ‘world foods’ buffet and include thai, chinese, indian and then… Italian? How exactly does that work. It’s the perfect example of trying to offer too much choice and doing nothing particularly well. I went one lunch time… the service was non-existant as they seemed more interested in cleaning the floors and talking to each other than coming over to do drinks or explain how it all worked. Then when you look at the food, a lot of the dishes were empty or with only scraps at the bottom. The food tasted bland or just plain awful. And trust me, I tried several just to see if any of it was actually edible. I had a bad stomach for the rest of the day after eating here. Avoid. Massively.

The £12.99 dinner buffet here offers Italian, Chinese, Thai, and Indian options, and everything is freshly prepared and nicely spiced. There’s a wok station where you select your own ingredients and sauce and watch the chefs prepare your dish. Highlights among the buffet dishes were grilled aubergines, spicy mussels, lamb korma, chicken with cashews in a yellow bean sauce, garlic dough balls, and fried calimari. A bottle of French chenin blanc, reasonably priced at £13.95, was a nice complement to our meal.

Very disappointing. The only redeeming quality is that we went on a Sunday evening, where they do half price, so we only paid £6 each. They claim to have many types of cuisine, but really more than half were indian curries. And everything was either potatoes, chicken, or rice. The only decent food was the freshly stir-fried noodles where you get to choose your own veggies and meat. Dessert wasn’t any better, with cakes that tasted processed and mass-produced. The deco was very nice though, just a pity the food was so lousy. I guess its a good place if you’re super hungry and just want food to fill you up.

You can’t really beat a lunch-time offer that promises all-you-can-eat cuisine from all over the world for a mere £6.95 a head. In this current climate, it’s certainly not an offer to be scoffed at. That’s probably why this place is always so packed and I predict we’ll be seeing a more of them to come. The restaurant itself doesn’t feel as stark as you’d expect from a buffet. It’s design is modern and sleek with a lot of stainless steel and the chefs sporting uniforms and hats. The servery has a vast array of Indian, Italian, Chinese and Thai dishes, and you really can go back as much as you want. But take it easy though — I did see a few people cramping their plates with pasta and curry at the same time. Those same people were clutching their stomachs some time later and quite frankly it serves them right. The curries are what I’d stick to, in particular I enjoyed the Butternut pumpkin Curry, and with bottles of wine at £11.95 and cocktails at £5, this proved to be a very good and pocket-friendly start to our night out.
