Koenig Books is an art book shop which sells a diverse range of titles, from big name publishers to independent and handmade zines. As well as stocking the most up to date monographs by the big name publishers like Phaidon and Taschen, Koenig offer a wide variety of lesser known and rare titles, as well as many independently published artist books and zines. If I need inspiration or simply want to lust after things I could only dream of filling my own bookshelves with I head straight for Koenig. They do not only sell pricey hardback tomes, however, many books are very affordable and you can often find beautifully crafted limited edition books that are simply not stocked outside of specialist shops like this. Head downstairs to find a treasure trove of books reduced in price — there is many a bargain to be had, with many rare and expensive books available at a fraction of the price. They also stock a comprehensive range of visual art magazines and journals, and will be pleased to search out a book for you should they not have it in stock.

Koenig specialises in art, photograph and design related books. What is really distinctive about this particular art book shop versus others is their diverse collection of titles. I found a cotton-covered yellow book about t-shirts made by an obscure art collective that was completely unique and awesome. I don’t think that I could have found a title like that anywhere else. They also do discounts, which is almost unheard of in many art book shops. These kinds of books are expensive; £50 per title is very commonplace. I found some really quality titles discounted by up to 50%. Copping a book from Koenig is an aesthetically enriching bargain.
