OK here goes. I don’t like gyms much, I like working out but I hate the unfriendliness /unhelpfulness that you see in most gyms. Take LA Fitness Southgate for example. I have a friend who is a member there and as a kind of incentive, every now and then they get a buddy pass where you can bring a friend for a week or occasionally a weekend pass. So being a kind soul they took me with them on their morning workouts. now keep in mind this is not the first time I’ve been to this gym but it could be. I went into reception, filled out a form and then er. that’s it! Yes that’s it! You just get left on your own. If it was my gym I would tell my staff to ask the following questions; 1 Have you been to an LA fitness before and if not Do you know where the changing facilities are 2 Are you familiar with the equipment 3 Do you know how to store you valuables etc etc/My friend is female so off she goes to change leaving me wondering where the changing rooms are, do they have locks you can pay a deposit on etc etc Its not like they don’t have enough staff. Same thing happened ages ago when they offered me a free trial for 3 days. I book an induction, go to the club, walk up to reception and then have to hang about until someone comes back and says Gavin/Dave/Susan etc are on their break at the moment can you come back? Answer no. Nothing too much wrong with the Gym just totally un-geared up to meeting greeting and making people feel relaxed and at home in their club.
