I’ve never studied urban planning, but surely you can’t have a perfect neighborhood without there being some sort of Italian market/deli somehow involved. London is sorely missing more examples, but this neighborhood is lucky. I wasn’t planning on visiting, but happened to be walking by on a freezing day. IDucked in to check it out(and to defrost) and was soon eating a big bowl of melting lasagne. When you are cold/hungry, a big bowl of lasagne is better than sex. Or it is sex. Or it’s on par with sex, depending on your partner, and depending on how they might be covered in cured meats and cheeses(and sauce). Whatever. It’s otherwise a smallish market so don’t travel the breadth of Britain to source something without checking in advance. But if near, you should definitely pop in for food, drinks or chatting with staff.

Authentic Italian delicatessen in my old neighbourhood. Run by Italians, it seems to stock everything from the country. For example, I went to find some Carciotta cheese and they had it in both smoked and non-smoked flavours. In retrospect it’s a shame I didn’t go there more often as its also a café.

Dragged my jet-lagged self in for a latte and was so glad I did! The latte was quite decent, and we picked up some lovely fixins’ for our evening picnic. Fine cheeses, breads, charcuterie, as well as prepared pastas, sauces and the like — and nice looking fresh produce to boot. Everyone else seemed to be speaking Italian, a testament to La Piccola’s authenticity. A great option if you’re in the area and in need of a pick-me-up or take out. Tables on the sidewalk to enjoy London’s improving climate!

I am so pleased I live within sniffing distance of this heavenly deli, located just off the Sutherland roundabout. They have all manner of native meats hanging from the ceiling, local produce and exquisite ravioli and gnocchi ready to pluck from the counter and serve up. I know where I’ll be every Sunday morning.

Probably the perfect deli. Really nice food, friendly Italian staff who love, know and appreciate their food. Even the ready made things are so delicious that when a friend came to my place and tried some things that I had bought there, they had to go there and get some for themselves. The fresh food is also great. It is a top end place and the prices reflect that, but it is superb. Also although some things are very expensiive, some things are brilliant value. Their coffee is just £1.60 which is cheaper than other local places and the quality is even better as they use this great Italian coffee.
