I’m tempted to nickname this place The Old Curiosity Shop as it’s quite unique and a little unexpected(in a good way). Named after a picturesque area in Thailand, beloved of the owners, it has a quirky, ‘green-is-good’ feel. The owners are also publishers and it was this aspect that launched the shop, I discovered, through my own curiosity Even as a book enthusiast, I must confess that I spent most of my time looking at the gorgeous Thai jewellery on offer. I was very tempted by some pretty Thai silver earrings and some stunning semi-precious stone bracelets, as well as multi-jewelled costume rings. The fabulous, large Soap Gems made me do a double-take, leaving me convinced that they belonged in the jewellery section, rather than the bathroom department. The general choice left me a little bewildered; the helpful assistant was astonishingly understanding and patient with me! If you’re in the area(and it’s well worth exploring) do look in here for a different experience and an opportunity for some well-priced gift buying(for yourself or others).
