It’s a little bit dingy inside this E17 café. They offer tea, coffee and have a window full of tantalizing pattiserie cakes. Sadly I didn’t think they tasted as good as they looked — I wasn’t blown away but they were pleasant enough. What was even more pleasant was the price. Just over £5 for two cakes, a tea and a coffee. Awesome-stow strikes a win again. But staff could be a wee bit friendlier!

the croissants and pain au chocolat are always excellent and very fresh. we’ve only had cakes from here once but they were that rare thing, patisserie that tastes as good as it looks. its a bit dingy inside though, so we normally get take-out. still, if the coffee matches the food then its definitely a winner.

Probably the best coffee in E17, made on one of those superb brass coffee machines with the big eagle perched atop its dome. Gaggia? Pah! Lovely polite, friendly staff and incredibly cheaply priced too. Makes you wonder how the big chains get away with £3+ for a cup of coffee.

The mouthwatering window display of handmade cakes and patisseries often tempts me on my way home. My favourite is the delicious fruit tart(see photo) with fresh fruit and a sumptious patisserie cream filling. Great for a lunchtime panini too!
