A great club in central Mayfair. A great improvement over the original Chinawhite club which was here previously. Music is predominantly hip hop and r and b with more focus on house music at the weekends. Good to have other rooms in the club to part in too. Also the code bar upstairs is pretty cool.

Hahaha you call this a club? Not even Vegas clubs are this selective. Expensive cover charge for a tiny scrawny club space with premature ejaculating djs. A bunch of judgemental security of dumb and dumbers whos trying to bring up the image of the club that cleanly isn’t anything more than a spot for little dickens showing off their wealth. Had more fun at many other clubs and pubs in the soho. Wouldn’t wipe my ass here if forced to:)

I’ve got a few things to say about this place. Location — convenient, less than 5 min from Oxford Circus tube. Ambience — the décor and set up are actually quite nice, the ambience isn’t anything out of the ordinary for a nightclub. People — let’s go one at a time here… Promoter: so I won’t name his name, but the promoter does quite a few Mayfair clubs and he’s okay, but I hate being lied to or feeling like I’m being hustled. I was very clear about his guest list and asking if we’d be charged. He assured us we wouldn’t but something told me, he was a bit shady so I decided to double up and check with the house guest list too. He did have a table that had drinks, so that part wasn’t a lie, but he shouldn’t have lied and said that it was free entry. This was the beginning of no no’s for integral, sustainable business. Door Lady: absolutely beautiful, but HORRIBLE attitude. She also dealt very shadowy with me and my guest trying to charge us for the promoters guest list. Once I brought attention to the fact that the website says that ladies come in free before 11:30pm, she conceded and let me and charged the guy I was with £20. I don’t even know if it’s legal to do this as I think there are statutes about false advertising but I seriously hope they don’t continue to do this to people, because anyone who doesn’t know what the website says will be getting ripped off. Office Staff: I’ve met a few of them and they’re actually okay and have seemed like quote decent people but they’ve been very bad about replying to club/business-related questions/comments/concerns, which again, isn’t good for long-term, integral, sustainable business. Experience — I know it’s a club and most night clubs operate as if they’re untouchable or above the law but they’re not and so they should just be a little more humble and approachable in their dealings. I was also with a friend of mine who’s a designer; he was dealt with so poorly and shadily that I’m sure when it’s time for him to hire a venue for his next show/after party, where he may have considered a place like Libertine, I’m sure he won’t now. I don’t know why I always have a negative vibe here. Even when I’m having a good time, something about the way things are done and the whole operation just seems very shady and has left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, the club is not bad and I’m sure investors have really put a lot of money into the place. I’d love to see staff and customer care improvements now too! I won’t say don’t go, but I’d say only go if you’ve prearranged your night with one of the office staff so when you get to the door hey know who you are and treat you like a valuable customer!

‘Where’s your office party?’ ‘Libertine Oh that used to be Chinawhite– with all the celebs?!‘ And the club doesnt let you forget it’s celeb routes– with pictures of famous faces partying in the newly renovated area, which seemed really small for a 500 strong office party– especially because the bar was so tiny. But I guess that means for intimate club times on saturdays, so it’s not a bad thing– it makes it all the more exclusive. Even more exclusive is that there isn’t a sign outside the club– just bouncers outside a black door. But it’s just off oxford street like 2 minutes from the tube so not so hidden away! I’m actually surprised the security guards aren’t more wary inside. because my friends and I were like dancing on a elevated surface– maybe a seat top but you know, in any other club– i probably would’ve been dragged down. But I wasn’t. Fun times all around– prbably won’t mind coming back with some friends!

Such a cool club! nice place to hang out with friends! We went there last week and love the music and crowd. The drinks a bit expensive but we had fun anyway. Not my number one club to go out but since last week maybe one of my favorite thats for sure. We went for free with lux glist which was really nice cause we not able to pay that much money for entrance(better to spend them in the bar) ha ha. This site my tip for people who dont feel like extra paying cheers!

Absolute bitch on the door, won’t let in anyone they assume doesn’t fit their ‘look’ even if they are paying customers.

So Libertine apparently just opened up last weekend, and I attended last night, for a French Tuesday’s event(so a different experience than a regular night). A friend previously worked at the venue when it was China White, and all with me(3 girls plus myself total) had frequented China White(I had not), and apparently they did some changing up/renovations, but not too extensively. As I haven’t been to Chinawhite, I can’t compare it, but the biggest drawback to me seemed to be the bar space. While the venue was absolutely packed for this event, I would presume that’s the case on most weekends(or they’d like it to be), and the bar space was miniscule, which provided a mass of people crowded on top of each other, waiting to be served by one of the two bartenders. Were they to extend the bar space during the renovations, they could sell a lot more drinks, and avoid the absolute mob situation. Also, hooks in the bathroom would be nice, so you don’t have to put your nice bag on the floor or on top of the toilet paper basket. That said, service was friendly once you made your way to the bar, and drinks reasonably priced for a club(~14 pounds for a well cocktail). The dance floor was spread out, over various levels, with lots of booths for resting your feet from dancing. We all had a good time, so while I can’t really say what the crowd would be like on a typical night, I certainly left with a much better impression of the London French Tuesdays than I’ve had in the states(where I haven’t even heard about it in years). Although, FT apparently is only about a year old here, so that could be the reason the group is better, and they hold events at better(or at least brand new!) venues than the states events.
