ERMAGHERD ERMA…BIRD? /weak, weak, but that might be the hangover talking/ This is a great spot to spend some quality time. Great mix of people, great staff, great(Saturday Maltby St. Market) energy, *great gin*. DOUBLEBONUS: you can get the cocktails to go. To go, people. Let’s start a revolution with the hashtag #GINTOGO! I went for my all-time favourite: a negroni, which was amazingly, perfectly bitter and at 5gbp/cup totally worth my hard-earned poundage. The G&T was jazzed up with a thick slice of grapefruit and was perfectly delicious and refreshing. There’s not tonnes of seating, so grabbing a gin and doing a walk-around is a solid choice. But, should you get a seat, nab it! The glasses that they serve the drinks in are ‘old timey’ and it feels like you’re sitting in a warehouse /antique store /coolest boozy den you could ever imagine. Charming, delicious, worth the visit. 5⁄5 gin fizzes! Unilocal note: bring a bottle of gin home with ya and keep the party going. Location option only on weekends, with fairly limited hours: Saturdays it’s rocking during market time, and Sundays 11−4pm.

Wow. These cocktails are awesome. Hands down, great. We tried several, all made in these adorable to go cups, while walking and eating through the Maltby St Market. I fell in love with the rhubarb gin fizz. It was amazing, not too sweet with a little tart. My husband tried the bloody mary, which while he liked, he didn’t like the bits that got caught in the straw which made it hard to drink. He then switched over to the negroni, which was awesome. While in the market, try these cocktails. You will not be disappointed.

Recently ducked in for a Saturday afternoon booze and people watching session and I was not disappointed. My flatmate had recently come home and told us about a cute little market and this great gin place. Knew immediately it was up my alley. Make sure you get there early because seating is at a premium and people are not afraid to let you know that they’ve been waiting longer than you(even though you may doubt it). Now to the good stuff, the drinks! They were fantastic. The gin is really clean and refreshing, one of the best gin and tonics I’ve ever had and it comes with a huge slice of grapefruit so you feel as though you are getting one of your 5 a day… The Rhubarb fizz was also amazing, bit dangerous as they are really drinkable and you’ll be at the bottom of your glass before you know it. What I appreciated most about Little bird is the attention to detail. The beautiful glassware, kitchy straws, and garnishes really made it, for example my friend had the martini and it had a tiny little bird cut out of orange peel. Will definitely be back!

Amazing little pop-up style gin bar located in the heart of the Maltby Street Market in London. The little Bird Gin company distills in small batches in London using things like grapefruit and orange that they claim make a smoother, fresher tasting gin. Well, they must know what they’re doing because their gin drinks are off the chain good! My friend Rolfe and I only got to try the classic Negronis(2 each), and they were perfection. We wanted to try some other drinks, but it was near closing time and they were running short on some of their fresh ingredients… next time for sure! Note that this place is part of the Ropewalk section of the market and only open on Saturdays(9am-2pm or later) and Sundays(11am-4pm).

tucked away in the arches of maltby street, this is a great little gin bar using little bird gin(the name kinda gives it away). it is full of knick knacks… i think mostly everything in here is for sale, including the stools you are sitting on. there is indoor & outdoor seating, and lots of heat lamps, so even on a cold day, i reckon you’ll be warm enough. cocktails are £5, which makes me happy. they are gin based only but are interesting and delicious. my boyfriend’s hot chick came in an old medicine bottle and an accompanying shot glass. i had the blackbird which was berryful and lemony delicious. if i were visiting london and this is the type of place i stumbled on, i’d be a very happy girl. quirky, different, not too expensive on the wallet and hard to find if you’re not specifically looking for it. the guys and gals working here were very friendly & quick with their service, and best of all, it was puppy friendly inside & out! people were also bringing in food from the market vendors outside and there didn’t seem to be a problem with this. i think maltby st is quite the community so i’m sure all the vendors there are happy to support each other. nice to see. will definitely be back — i love the buzz here!
