I ate here a few hours ago. I almost got the cabbage and mushroom dumplings but decided against it after hearing plain dumplings accompanied the borscht. Mostly though I was turned off by the price– £8.50 for an order which is almost double the price for dumplings(and delicious ones at that!) at Mamúska at Elephant and castle. I asked if I could get a half-order and like typical eastern European/communist/lack of innovative thinking/doesn’t want any money stupidity, I was told no. So no dumplings for me. For £3.50 the soup portion was small but delicious! I should have been given a larger bowl-and bread– for that price. I got a slice of chocolate and cheese cake for takeaway for £2. Looks better than it tastes(not terrible just mediocre).

I Lived 10 minutes walk away and fell in love. Incredible cakes. But wait… the savoury menu is the best value, tastiest(and biggest portion sizes ever) I’ve seen. This isn’t gourmet, it’s well cooked, healthy, traditional food. The Potato pancake and Goulasch… WOW! In my two years living nearby I leaned some Polish recipes from the menu, and always love popping in again to eat far too much.

If you are looking for traditional, tasty polish food –well this is a place for you! I really like going there, the food is fresh and cheap(around 7 pounds and you will not be able to finish it all). It has nice atmosphere and the cakes are really good too although I think 2pounds for a slice of cake is a bit too much, 1.50 would be more appropriate)! It’s pity they do not have a bit more space and sometimes you might not be able to find place to sit(they do take-away as well) My tip: drink KOMPOT with your meal ;-)

A great little place which serves all of the Polish staples and then some — main meals probably won’t break a fiver either! Did you know that ‘Londek’ is the colloquial word that Poles use to refer to London?

Not your usual run of the mill café. They do a wide range of pastries and their sandwiches are great Food is well cooked and prepared. The owners are friendly and will make up something on request if you do not like what is on the normal menu. Seating is very restricted so tend to use it as a takeaway. The whole place is very clean and it seems very well run. The parking is not too bad as long as there is not a big queue. Well worth a try if you are in the area.
