I was at the London Rowing Club for an event last night and really liked the space they had. The walls are adorned with some fascinating rowing memorabilia, it has wonderful views of the river and there was even an open fire which was lit last night and really made it quite special. I did a brief speech and was so pleased that they had a microphone and sound system so that everyone could hear me. They do all kinds of events, including weddings, and seem well set up for it. It’s a little way from the train station but easy to find and the 15 – 20 minute walk was fine. I didn’t eat or drink they’re so can’t comment on quality or price for that but it’s worth checking out if you’re looking for event space in the area.

The London Rowing Club is the oldest rowing club in Putney and one of the oldest in the world. I’m not a rower but have been to it for a business function. I’m hiring the London Rowing club for a conference I’m running. The Events Manager is brilliant, really helpful and made it an easy decision as a venue. The members room is something very special, and the balcony(it’s big enough to be a terrace) runs the length of the whole building, it must be amazing in the summer.

I have had never been to a rowing club before, and it is a shame that on my first trip to one, i actually didnt go rowing, i went for a friends wedding. The Vesta Rowing Club sits right next to the bridge, giving great views of the Thames and Bridge. It is a great location to have a wedding. As for catering and service etc, I got far too drunk to remember if either were any good. It is quite a spacious venue and has great Rowing ornaments up on the walls, and old pictures of the club. Being a Rowing Club, it sits facing the Thames, and as the night went on, the tide went down. It was a warm night so quite a few of us walked down the ramp, closer to the water, and sat. if this was during the day, the current would have taken us. Speaking to the locals, sometimes the tide rises too high in the mornings and claims your car, so if you park in Putney and your next to the Thames, be very careful.
