Actually the food wasn’t bad… fairly nice burger with fries and onion rings(although a little too saturated with cooking oil) and the Cobb Salad my wife has was also pretty good. Atmosphere typical city afterwork drinkathon environment but no-one appeared to be punchy! I’m only giving this a 3 as food wasn’t phenomenal but it was reasonably priced along with options to buy wine by the carafe. It’s just that our waiter appeared to forget about our drinks — had to go chase him as apparently it was more important to clear the dishwasher first. The other waiter was quite attentive but then appeared to flee when I asked for the bill, so another trip to the bar ensued.(Apparently the machine had run out of paper but seeing the waiter run outside and down the stairs did cause a Sean Connery eyebrow moment.) Anyway, ok for after work drinks and casual food.

We had tickets to the London late at the Museum of London on Friday, and we needed somewhere to meet for pre-drinks. We settled on this place after a bit of a Unilocal search. I used citymapper to get to the London Wall road, however i spent about 15mins walking around looking for the bar not actually realising it was above street level –_– Rookie Error. When we arrived a kind waiter tried to help us find somewhere to sit, but most of the tables were reserved, which was a little annoying. We settled on sitting outside, as the weather wasn’t too awful(its mostly all undercover) and the waiter kindly offered to give us table service. The bar itself is quite large, and plenty of tables. They have quite an extensive wine menu. I didn’t look at the food menu, however my housemates did and they ordered fries, which smelled and looked delicious. The waiter was super friendly, and even gave us a discount on our bill. It’s a great venue for after work drinks, or after museum drinks. Once you know where the bar is, of course.

Walked into the London Wall Bar & Kitchen after being to the Museum of London with our two kids after seeing the positive Unilocal reviews. The restaurant was modern, bright and airy and staff were attentive. Unfortunately the food was a let down. I had the meatballs which were overcooked and rubbery. My wife had the pork belly sandwich which suffered the same overcooked fate and her chips with skin were burnt but edible. The kids had the mac and cheese and fish and chips which they both seemed to enjoy. Overall great location and décor but let down by the food.

I’ve wanted to try London Wall Bar and Kitchen for a while, and was finally able to have a late, leisurely lunch on a day off. It did not disappoint. The location is interesting and convenient for the City and for Smithfield, and I liked the interesting, cozy but up to date interior. It’s located literally next to the Museum of London, so would make a nice stopping point after or before a visit to the museum. I had a delicious beetroot, lentil and goat cheese salad to start: it was outstanding. My main was the burger, which was very good.(My only minor complaint about the burger is that the bun is a bit too big for the burger, so you get more bread in some bites than burger. But a minor point.) My friend had a wonderful fish finger sandwich, as well as the soup of the day(watercress and broccoli, I believe). I will definitely be back. Looks like a good place for afterwork drinks. too.

This new eatery on the London Wall opened in June after the launch of the new Galleries of Modern London at the neighbouring Museum of London. It’s a distinctly New York loft-style brasserie with wooden floors, large coper light fittings and retro leather sofas and dining furniture. Tables are sleek black with wooden chairs and floor-to-ceiling windows let loads of light in. My favorite things are the black-and-white photos of old London scenes tha tiw in the museum next door. Now, the food. I wasn’t sure what I felt like for my Sunday lunch and in a rush, plumped for the burger with chips. An error, in retrospect as the beef pattie was towards burnt and left a smokey taste in my mouth and the bun with salad and side of chips were pretty bog standard. That said, my friends had some lovely options — braised beef with delicate carrots and greens and park ribs both gave me food envy. I’d definitely go back here for a drink or to try something else as I liked the buzzing atmosphere, and I can shop or enjoy the museum beforehand.
