Located on the ground floor of the Sanderson Hotel the bar is exactly what it says on the tin. A long white bar in the middle of the lobby. It’s very sparse and has absolutely no atmosphere but as somewhere to sit and wait if you’re waiting to go into the restaurant it’s not too bad. All of the seating is high stool seating. The cocktail list is quite extensive and the drinks come in around £12 per cocktail. They have quite a wide selection of wines to choose from as well. There are a few nibbles you can order from the menu but these seemed a bit overpriced so we gave them a miss. If I were coming to the restaurant again I would probably go somewhere else and then come just in time for the reservation as while the staff there are lovely it’s not the best place to get pre-drinks.

My friend took 10 of us here for his birthday after party the other week. The deco in this place is stunning. It is located inside the Sanderson Hotel, so there are plenty of wealthy types in here. We also noticed that there were a lot of old business men with younger girls. We found out later that the majority of those girls were high class call girls. Go figure in a place like this. The drinks are expensive. The service was the slowest I’ve experienced. I definitely won’t be coming back again.

Best cocktails on earth! Friendly staff and a really good selection of nibbles if you hungry… What else can you expect? Nice people and packed on the weekends… Definitely a place to be!!!

This place is pretentious and expensive. That said, it’s also a great place to people watch and the cocktails are pretty damn delicious — they better be at 15GBP($ 23) a pop. The Sanderson Hotel is beautiful and attracts a lot of wealthy business travelers. Business travelers that enjoy the company of beautiful women in the evenings. So my girlfriend and I pull up in a cab for a quick drink before a birthday party at a lounge nearby. It’s gonna be a fun night, so I’m equipped with thigh-high boots and a mini dress, along with a long wool coat. My friend is wearing an equally skimpy outfit. At the door we get asked if we are here to see someone specific. We answer that we’re just here for a drink before heading off to another place. The hotel entrance door men ask several more times if we are meeting someone here, what our plans are, etc. Clearly they thought we were working and came to scout out the potential at Long Bar. My friend gets pissed as she’s there frequently and says«Look, I come here all the time with friends, we are here to drink an overpriced cocktail and that’s it» and storms in. Gotta love this girl! Well, that wasn’t the only time that night we were looked at like a piece of meat you can snap up on aisle 4. We ignore and enjoy our stiff libations. Cocktails, that is… Seconds before we were going to get up and leave, two men approach us at the bar and try to buy us. Buy us drinks, that is… Highly entertaining if you have money to throw around like you don’t care and you don’t mind being objectified by the 80% male dominated guests.

Meeting a friend I hadn’t seen in a decade and she suggests the bar located in the Sanderson, obviously I’m unfamiliar since I haven’t lived in London in a 10yrs so am happy to go with her choice ! Wander inside the lobby and my first impression is that I’ve walked into a movie set, for reals, the sleek modern décor and long bar swathed in beautiful people had feeling like I’d arrived LOL. We were actually seated in the courtyard which was well appointed and very relaxing, the service was absolutely the best I’ve experienced since being in town and the cocktails were delightful — yes I drank too much and yes I reminisced about the old days and most importantly yes I people watched because this place is filled with people to stare at :-) Loves it and would head back in an instant !

Any stars are for the venue only… the service gets –5 stars. This place is spacious and posh with a lovely outdoor bar(Long Bar Terrace, where we had drinks). I reserved a table for us on a hot summer day after work. No probs. Some of us arrived earlier than others so we ordered a drink. The waiter asked if we wanted to pay or leave a card at the bar. We all decided to pay for our drinks as we didn’t know how long we’d be staying — it was proper boiling outside… we got a funny look. Hmmm… The balance of our mates arrived & also ordered drinks, only to be asked the same question. They also opted to pay… well, that’s where the brevity ended for us. The waiter then goes to get another colleague who tells us we’ll have to have a card behind the bar. We asked why(as some of us had already paid for our drinks)…his response: «I’m not saying it’s any of you but other people have come here, ordered drinks and then run off without paying.» WTF!!! How rude… and stupid! This guy was staring down the faces of 8 successfully, employed women with cash and cards to boot! We quickly settled that bill and told him that was a rude thing to say. Was he so stupid to have taken orders in the past without getting payment by either cash or card(& if card, who was dumb enough to skip out of a bar over a £12 drink?). Was there something about us that led him to making such a sweeping judgement? Don’t know & don’t care… Drinks swallowed & we vacated.

LOVETHISPLACE. The Sanderson Hotel’s lobby bar & patio(The Long Bar, apparently) is one of my favorite spots in London. I often will take friends and client alike here for a late drink after dinner. The inside bar is always packed and grabbing a drink can be tough. If you can, get a a table outside on the patio(even when it’s cold, they have tons of heat lamps to keep you warm), do it. The wait staff is hit and miss with the time it takes to take your order and serve drinks but it’s really not a big deal because the scene is entertaining enough even without a drink! The cocktail menu should be sampled — and anything with vodka is usually pretty tasty. Come one, come all & often!

Heeeelllllooooooo acid trip! In walking through the Sanderson Hotel Lobby to get to Long Bar… I see a huge red lip couch, a room with an enormous stained glass wall with nothing but a pool table in it, a green chair with silver swans flanking it, an inviting hanging clear bubble chair next to a painting of a giant Chihuahua staring at me… If you make it past all the distractions of the lobby, you find yourself at Long Bar. Oh sh*t…acid trip getting stronger. About 50 eyeballs in this bar on the backs of chairs, and every eye is different. So, surprise, surprise… there’s also a long bar in this room. 80 feet long, to be exact. There’s seating all around the bar, which is in the middle of the room; set up to be the«see and be seen» type of place. The drinks were amazing… I forget the name of the martini I had, but it was garnished with a long, hot red pepper. Just enough to make me come down off my «acid trip», and enter martini buzz…

This is a place that makes an impression. It’s located at the Sanderson Hotel, and the décor is stunning, with white billowing curtains on all the walls. The layout of this long bar is such that if you’re seated at it, you’ll be looking directly across at someone else. This creates a specific vibe, as the focus here is clearly on people watching, on seeing people and being seen.

Excellent style and fantastic drinks. Expensive, perhaps but worth the fun. Great fun interior and lovely drink menu. My BlackBison(vodka and fresh blackberry) was excellent and the Cote de Rhone they were serving by the glass was a very nice one.

Way to snap out of the January blues! This is why I love London! Sleek and sexy, buzzing with well dressed gorgeous people, we were lucky enough to snag a table in the covered courtyard(complete with tropical plants, waterfalls and ponds, and the requisite heat lamps), and people watch the night away. A great scene, yes, with the pretentious 4-inch high hair and heels girls and the chotchy(sp?) guy here and there, but hey they’re part of the fun! Easy place to while the night away. Docking a star for the slow service and slightly incompetent waiter. But still… another winner by the Morgan Hotel Group(St Martins Lane, London and the W, SF). I shall be back!

This is a one-two punch in my book. Not only do they make the best vodka martinis I’ve had to date in London, the interior is so seductively sleek — how can you not be transfixed? Granted, I’m an absolute sucker for sexy interiors(Nods to surrealism? A glowing bar? Funky furniture? Yes, please!) but I’ve also yet to have a drink here that didn’t turn into a memorable night(it certainly helps that they’re open till 3am) — nor have I ever brought a person here who didn’t come away mesmerized. The crowd varies from night to night(everything from media/art types, to your typical businessmen on the prowl…) but is usually pretty social and definitely the sort of people who don’t bat an eyelash(or pretend not to) at dropping £14 on a drink. The service can be a little spotty — not that anybody who has ever served me hasn’t been pleasant or nice — it’s just that sometimes it’s been a bit slow. But sigh… despite that, I’m still very partial to this place… between the gorgeous bar and courtyard, the fact that I can chill here till the wee hours, and the sublime libations(I would venture to say that there’s no question you’re getting what you pay for — *strong* and well-done) it’s an irresistible combination when I’m in the mood to dress up and have a chic drink. Oh! And don’t miss playing a round of pool on their one-of-kind antique purple and silver pool table before you head out…

It’s posey, pretentious, extremely loud and saying that I felt like a piece of meat would be an understatement with the rich and the sleazy blatantly staring and ogling. Evidently I was a bit too organic for them — I really don’t fit in here at all — don’t have all that designer packaging that makes a place like this a «success». If you are happy to spend £15 for a cocktail and get treated with total disdain thrown in for free then this is your place. What is with people’s attitudes? It’s only a bar. I’m not even sure if the style appeals to me because there’s no substance underneath. The outside section however, is lovely with stone Buddha’s amongst greenery and water. For that they can claim their one star.
