Average food, but a little expensive. Nine pounds for a large glass of house wine, a charge for bread from the market that morning, four pounds for a small bottle of sparkling water. My lasagne tasted good, but was a strange consistency, very watery. Service was good and friendly. I would not repeat unless it was a very windy and rainy night and I didn’t want to walk too far.

My partner and I were the first people in here, 5pm but we were having an early night after a day in London’s west end. We needed a place near to our hotel, and this was one of the few open. Although it’s rather dated décor and ambience made us nervous about the food, it actually turned out to be reasonable. I had a ‘Lasagne Bolognese’ which was a good sized portion, tasty and satisfying. My partner had a pizza, which was ‘ok’ if somewhat doughy. The(I think) owner was charming and friendly, although service was a bit on the slow side. Weird considering that even by the time we left there were still only 2 other people in the place. I’d say someone needs to throw some cold water over the owners to wake them out of their 30 year slumber. There is a potential market here, even though there is actually a lot of competition nearby, including another Italian within a few seconds walk. Maybe a lick of paint and some new wall art might help. Reducing and updating the menu would go a long way as well. I’d give Lorenzo’s 4 stars, but it’s just too dated and sleepy for that, sorry! Also I’d need to try other dishes to warrant more.

I would love to write about how amazing the food was. I would love to depict the wonderful service. I would love to discuss the Italian delicacies of London. Unfortunately, this restaurant refused to serve me. Why? Even though the entire front restaurant was empty, the surly Cruella Deville-like Hostess/Wench stated, «we are too busy to serve one during lunch today». Well, congratulations on being the only business on the planet to turn away American money because you are so successful.
