Gosh, I just love this place. I have one word for you: GUACAMOLE!!! Get it — get lots of it! Honestly this has to be some of the best guaca I’ve ever had on a burrito — it’s creamy but has large chunky pieces of avacado running through it and it honestly brings this already amazing burrito to life. I’ve been a MAHUSSIVE fan of this little blue food truck for about 2 years now and it has never disappointed. It even rivals Pancho’s for me(anyone who knows me or Pancho’s will understand). The ingredients are fresh, the shredded beef is just perfect AND as an added bonus today I chose to have chorizo thrown in there too! It was a great addition, slightly over powering BUT I enjoyed it all the same. NOM.

There’s always room for improvement which is why this place doesn’t make my fabled 5 star rating list but it is pretty amazing. The reason it doesn’t get a 5th star is that they do tend to run out of a lot of stuff each day(on this day no beef, chicken or Chorizo left with 30 mins of service left) and I have had much more exciting burritos around the world. But…for London it’s definitely one of the best you can get! The toasted burrito with lots of tasty guac, lovely carnitas and fragrant rice just rocks — and for just over a fiver it’s a great option for lunch time! A very cool van, very cool concept and if you’re around the area for lunch then get down here as there’s some fantastic other food spots, the bakeries always look so tempting!

Pretty good burritos, and by far the most efficient service of its ilk. Simple, pared back choices — chicken, pork, beef– if you’re here it’s because you’re having a burrito. The«hot» salsa is thermonuclear in intensity. If I had one criticism, it’s that the contents are a little on the«wet» side, leading to the potential for a steady drip onto your feet(or down your clothes, if careless) while you’re eating.

Another review of Mexican food by an American. How cliché! At the month UCL Kerb extravaganza, I decided I wanted something spicy and delicious, and I was really hoping Luardos would satisfy that for me. It was hard for me to decide between the chipotle brisket(because I love the smokiness of chipotle chilis) and the carnitas(because I love carnitas), but I went for the brisket.(In retrospect I should have seen if they would have done it half and half. Not sure if they would have done it but it wouldn’t hurt to ask, right?) But no rice. Because rice is just there on a burrito to add volume but no flavor(in my opinion), but apparently it’s required to slap it on there. But add me some guac any time. Because avocados. The burritos are good. Really good. I asked for it hot, and they gave it to me hot. I think there were two different sauces he slapped on there. It really filled that spicy food craving that I like. But it’s mostly just a burrito. There wasn’t anything that really excited me about it to be honest. Good, yes. Different and exciting? No not really. It’s one of the better burritos I’ve had, but just a burrito. I really wish that burrito vans would do something interesting with the beans and rice or maybe the cheese to really stand out from a lot of the other places. Maybe someday. That being said, if I’m in the mood for burritos, Luardos is definitely up there on my list.

My favorite place on Whitecross street hands down. The beef burritos are HUGE and taste amazing. If you’re going to go anywhere on Whitecross street. This is the place to be without a doubt

The quest continues for a really good burrito in London. I now work about 5 minutes from here and someone came in with a burrito from Luardos and I’d decided alongside three other colleagues to give it a whirl. Honestly, at this stage, I’m convinced there’s n’er a good burrito to find in London, so my expectations were not that high to begin with. Gone are my days of going to Señor Taco in Federal Way to pick up a $ 4 burrito with just about the most amazing salsa verde and chipotle. With that, I decided to try the carnitas with a dollop of guac. In a the epicenter of foodtrucks in London, Luardos does standout as the most outlandish of them all. And I wait for my to-be little slice of heaven. The initial crunches into a well tamed burrito were very nice. There’s a nice mix of crunch and mush from the veg and rice/beans, and the texture of each bite was spot on. The rice and beans combination however was a little dull. I’ve had better rice at Chipotle even in London. :(But the carnitas was well spiced and tender, but not exactly juicy. I mean don’t get me wrong, it’s a good burrito, all things considered in London, and quite possibly for the east side of the city, it’s absolutely amazing, but when comparing what it really should be —(and comparing it to some of the better places in the world that I’ve had one) — it’s above average. So, I will go back, because I’ve tasted the best burrito in the area, and it’s good, but I’ll hold off all burrito cravings until I’m in the Victoria area and go to Picante instead.

Without a doubt the best burritos in London. Be it Chicken, Carnitas, Beef or the vegetarian you can’t go wrong. I used to work just around the corner and used to go a couple of times a week. These burritos are so famous they even got a mention on CBS America in a segment about street food(just happened to catch it when I was in NY last week). Tips: If you like it spicy, try the habanero sauce. Also if you turn up just on 12 you stand a good chance of missing the inevitable queue.

Ah Luardos, how you have grown! I first tried them a few years ago on Southbank and remember being satisfied but not particularly impressed. The team behind the pink truck have really knocked it up a notch or three and put out some top quality stuff. I’ve just finished a chipotle brisket burrito with guac and chorizo. I’m stuffed but oh so happy as that has got to be one of the best burritos I’ve ever had. Luardos is easily recognisable by their pink graffiti style truck that can be found at Kerb(today it was the market at the Gherkin), Street Feast on occasion, and randomly trundling down the street. The menu is straightforward with the key elements for your core protein(beef brisket, chicken, pork, and veggie)) with guac and chorizo for 50p extra each. Given that the burrito is £5.50−6, the max you can spend is £7 and this is for a foil wrapped package the size of a small child. I opted, of course, for the chipotle brisket as I can’t resist anything covered in chipotle. There is something about that smoky spice that just makes me drool. The tortilla is toasted on a flat plate(compared to the typical steaming method) which melts the cheese just enough to make it gooey. Black beans(no pinto beans here) and rice go on top then a hefty layer of your chosen protein. At this point, the burrito-in-progress moves to the middle station where you can elect to add guac, 3 different heat levels of salsa, pico de gallo, chorizo, and sour cream. Naturally, I went for the spiciest option and pretty much everything else added on as well. So for a grand total of £7, I had a beast of a burrito that required both hands to control. But from the first juicy bite I was hooked and proceeded to demolish that burrito in less than 5 minutes. When I finished, I was stuffed yet strangely craving even more of that succulent meat. Sitting here a few hours later, the Luardo burrito has earned its title of a Food Coma Lunch, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. Few places do burritos quite at this level, and none with such style!

i ate from luardos when i went to street feast on friday night. they had the option of carnitas, beef or veggies. i’m normally a chicken girl when it comes to burritos, but i went for the beef. my standard trick is to have the burrito with guacamole and take away the rice and beans(i’m not a really a fan of either…) so essentially i’m rewarded with a giant fajita-type thing. it’s really delicious! luardos beef offering was wonderful. the flavours, oh the flavours! they all went together SO beautifully, and it’s almost like you could taste the love that went into slow cooking the beef. YUM! it’s a big substantial chunk of food, which for a fiver or so is definitely great value. i’m going with four stars because i need to go back to try the chicken as a burrito-standard for me, but if that is just as good as the beef, i definitely think it’s a contender for my favourite burrito in london.

Tried for the first time today– Whitecross market. Carnitas burrito with extra guac. It really was one of the best burritos I’ve had in ages, better than most of the big guy chains out there IMO. The carnitas was super tender and shredded and full of flavour and not bland as it can be at other places. The beans were great. The guacamole was excellent. The lettuce green and fresh. Cheese was good. The sauces and salsa were just right and just enough coriander flavour coming through. +The burrito was substantial without being heavy. +Spicy but not too spicy. +Juicy and not dry +Layers of flavours that work together +Large but won’t send you to sleep from burrito overdose. +Others have commented on not enough meat but I think the ratios were just right with equal amounts of rice, meat, beans, lettuce and salsa /sour cream. Yes, a little messy from the juices but that’s the way it goes. Use a napkin — they have kitchen roll for your convenience. A 3 man operation in a little truck and fast production line. £5 and 50p extra for guacamole. Great eats, service and value. So I will be the first to give it 5 proud stars…

There is a lot of competition for your lunchtime cash in Whitecross Street Market and this is the pick of some great choices. The queue tells the story so time your visit before the big lunchtime rush. I think these are my favourite burritos in London(although I still haven’t visited Daddy Donkey’s) pulled pork is great and the spicy chilli sauce hits the spot. £5.50 with guacamole. Not the multiple choices of the chains but this is great food, simply done with top quality ingredients.

So my coworkers in London hyped this place up as the best burrito they’ve ever had. *Rolling eyes* Esecially considering they’ve worked with me in San Francisco on occassion and have had a Mission Street Burrito. It ain’t nowhere near the best burrito that i’ve had, but for London, it ain’t bad. Easily the most popular place in the Whitecross Street Market. The lines are usually about 15 deep during lunch time. There are the typical options for burritos: Veggie, Pork, Beef, Chicken. The best probably being the pork with the added option of guacamole. My coworkers like to get chorizo added, but the chorizo flavoring is a bit foreign to me for a burrito. Opt for spicy, as it makes the burrito taste better and isn’t overwhelmingly hot. The burrito roller could use some work. He has left big gaps, and it tends to be messier than the average burrito… and burritos are messy already to begin with.

A classic choice for a quick lunch. Their burritos are tasty, but impossible to eat without creating a mess on your desk/clothes/face. The rolling guy really needs to go out on a course or something. Experience alone doesn’t seem to get him anywhere. Anyway, they have beef, chicken, pork and veggie versions, and the optional guacamole and chorizo. The quantity of meat is quite small(some strings of meat basically — can’t be more than 50g). One annoying thing: When summer comes they often choose to go to places other than the Whitecross street market, so you can never be sure that you will find them. The lines are long typically, sometimes way too long.

The colder it gets the more I eat, so at the moment, burritos, in all their carb glory are top of my list. I’d walked past this place a few times but had never been hungry enough to get one, yesterday was different. With a hot fiver in hand I ordered the spiciest thing on the menu, hoping that it would defrost my nose. It was a perfectly acceptable lunch, I finished it, had that burrito food coma after that I love so much and was satisfied for the rest of the afternoon. I have to admit, it wasn’t amazing, tasty, perfect for the moment and I will be back again but not knock your socks off sexy.

This place offers a perfectly respectable-tasting veggie burrito when it is ordered with guacamole(which is superb) and lots of hot sauce. The rice was plain, plain, plain, but the flavour of the beans made up for it. The cheese was suspiciously orange, except, that is, for the white shreds of cheese, which were suspiciously uniform in shape and impervious to heat(ie, they didn’t melt. at all.). The whole burrito wasn’t wrapped particularly tightly, so I ended up with one hot mess at the end, albeit a tasty one. So there you have it. What has one thumb* and likes burritos? This girl… I’d eat it again. _______________________ *I should clarify that I definitely have two thumbs. But this burrito got one thumb up. And then I used that thumb to point at myself in a bit of spectacular comedic timing after I asked you ‘what has one thumb and likes burritos’ and then revealed that the answer was, in fact, me, as I pointed to myself with the aforementioned thumb. I am a comedy genius.

Arriving at the Luardos’ burrito truck, I was overjoyed to see that — unlike many other burrito places in the city — they don’t charge you an arm-and-a-leg for guacamole(only 50p)… Unfortunately my joy was doomed to get a damper soon — namely when I realised that while they are generous with the guacamole, the portion of meat is rather minuscule and almost negligible.(And this was not a one-time thing, as I was able to witness a whole bunch of burritos being fabricated, with the line being quite extraordinary long!) I will say that the burrito didn’t taste bad, but overall the eating experience was further dampened by too much lettuce and by a too-loosely folded burrito, where the beans dripped out from the side. Thus, given the fact that Whitecross Market has so many other lovely stalls, I won’t be back for a while… there’s so much more to discover here and maybe — one day — when they’ve learned how to fold a burrito, I will be back!

Right then — I love Burritos. Totally. Love. Them. Sadly, I’ve never had a Burrito from their country of origin, but I have eaten my way around London’s Burtto stalls and shops. Luardo’s is one of my all-time favourites. Why? 1. Very fairly priced. 2. Fresh, super-tasty ingredients, well balanced and well wrapped. It’s the tastiness that wins me over really… Cons: 1. The hideously long queues. And as some reviewers point out, if you get there too late you might be out of luck as they often run out of certain fillings. You must try Luardo’s if you love Burritos, and see for yourself whether they make the grade for you. They do for me…

My favourite burritos in London! Minuses: long queues, which means they often run out of food. Sometimes you show up with your heart in your mouth, drooling at the prospect of biting into this perfect burrito, only to find the cart is not on Whitecross St(i.e., inconsistent presence and the website isn’t updated as frequently as this fan would like). Pluses: fresh ingredients(a silver lining that makes the long queues more bearable), friendly staff who always serve with a smile, the loyalty card, the EXCELLENT carnitas, the best fillings and seasonings of all of the offerings in this price range in London. And very reasonably priced.

I had a great Burrito here! I think it was even better than the one I got from Daddy Donkey a while ago, which is certainly saying something! Went for the veggie option and for four English pounds I was quickly provided with a spicy feast. The beef one is nice too!

I got to Luardo’s far too early one Friday morning. Apparently, they only start serving around 11.20 am. I was told to come back before 1.30 pm as they often sell out by then. Fortunately, I managed to find the time to return. The friendly server recognised me when I returned. No mean feat given that he must have seen close to a hundred people by the time I returned at 12.30 pm! I ended up queuing up for about 15 minutes before I got what it was I came for — a vegetarian burrito for £4. Unlike the meaty options, the vegetarian burrito comes with guacamole already included in the price(according to the handwritten menu on the side of the van). I’ll confess I didn’t really taste the guacamole in mine, but it was still very tasty nonetheless. And even though I opted for mildly spicy(aka just the tabasco sauce), my mouth was on fire by the time I’d finished 90% of the burrito. I’m really curious what the really spicy sauce tastes like now.
