The best kept secret in London! The Wagu beef and the gourmet free range burgers with herbs are bliss. The place smells wonderful and service is really the kindest and most personable of any butcher’s I’ve ever been to in the city. That’s saying a lot as most butchers in London are very good at customer service. Clapham scores again.

This place can get really busy at the weekend but it’s worth wait. The cheese and meat are of excellent quality. I always look forward to going in!

You know a the meat is going to be a) very good quality and b) expensive, when at 8am there are SIX butchers behind the counter carving, racking, marinating and weighing. Not to mention the regular arrival of traders with fresh vegetables, herbs and cheeses for their other counters. It’s a farmer’s market in one, beautiful shop. And yes, the meat is fantastic, and yes it is pricey. But for a treat, you can’t beat this place. Just imagine if you were rich enough to shop here most days and get all your produce from their shelves!

A great place to treat yourself with a very nice piece of meat, a great sandwich, very good cheese and vegetables. As almost all the others pointed out the only thing that doesn’t allow me to visit them every day is the price!

Definitely agree with all these reviews, only downside to being so popular is the exceptionally long queues to collect your turkey at Christmas. Literally snaking round the street. Who has time for that at Christmas!?? Other than that, they are the best and well worth every extra penny.

This is a very good butcher — of that there is no reasonable doubt — with excellent meat and knowledgeable staff. What is slightly depressing is the eye-watering prices; after all, these two critieria(the meat and the staff) ought to be what we expect, not a premium product.

This Butcher is seriously good(but also seriously expensive). Moen’s have won scores of rewards and rightly so. The quality of meat, customer service and attention to detail here is outstanding. What to get: — Pork and Herb or Cumberland sausages(both big and excellent!) — Chicken skewers(lemon and coriander and sweet chill are the best) — Meat balls. Awesome in every way. — Pork shoulder(we slow cooked one the other week and it was sensational) If you ever go to Clapham, this is an absolute must.

It’s also worth noting that they do a full range of fresh stock. Essential for your best risottos!

The only reason this isn’t getting five stars is the price. This is the best butcher in London, it’s just expensive. I was there a couple of weeks ago and got 6 lamb chops for a whopping £17. They are great for BBQs and will recommend meat and prepare specially including marinate ribs, wings etc. You can also describe how many people are coming for dinner and they will do a custom cut for you i.e. racks of lambs etc. If you want amazing meat and don’t have time to go to Borough Market then go to Moens.

A big, posh butchers just off Clapham Common. Like most butchers of this sort Moen specialises in free range and organic meat from the best producers in the country. It’s got really big windows and a nice open feel — there’s something free range and organic looking about those windows too. The meat is obviously brilliant — only been here once but the beef was really very good. They also do already marinated meat, just ready to cook, and plenty of deli type food as well. A great option if you’re local and looking for the best of the best.

M. Moen & Sons make raw meat look so delightful. When I buy meat from this place I don’t even want to cook it. I just want to preserve the carcass and hang it up in my living room. The cut is just so beautiful. The prices are expensive though. This is like a holiday meat place. Go here for your Christmas turkey or your Easter sirloin steak. They don’t really discount, so maybe you can buy one slab of meat a week from here for Sunday dinner. If you do want to sample some of their meat but you’re on a budget, usually during warm weather periods they smoke/roast a pig on the road outside of their shop and make pork sandwiches on the weekend. The pig smells delightful as you’re walking up the street. When you see it on the skewer rotating around it looks kind of sad because usually the head is still on it, but it still smells so good. The sandwiches are amazing and they’re only £3. So sorry for the little oinker that’s on the barby, but so happy for my tummy.

yes indeed, this is a good place to get your chops and any other bit of farmyard animal you can think of. Old fashioned in the best sense, butchers in their blue and white striped aprons not afraid to hack off various bits of bone on your behalf. it is not cheap, but then a fashionable organic butchers in Clapham was never going to be cheap — and apparently Maddonna shops there(not that I’ve ever see her queing up for a bit of brisket). I have a feeling it is shut on Sundays. The olives are good and it also sells other bits and pieces, condiments etc. The porky pies are not half bad — which is a real compliment from a Yorkshire lass!

I think if they let me, I’d probably live in moen and sons, curled up between a couple of Cumberland sausages and a marinated chicken kebab. Consistently voted as one of the top butchers in London, and rightly so, with an outstanding selection of good organic meats and wonderful deli produce. They’re not giving it away, but at the same time you really do get what you pay for. If you fancy a real treat and are feeling rich, get some of their beef fillet and flash roast it it will blow your mind. Also, they do a hog roast in the street on summer saturdays, which they serve in ciabatta rolls with apple sauce. If you haven’t tried the piggy goodness yet, you should really reassess your priorities!
