A nice little place with great Indian food. The team has been awesome and delivered a perfect service.

Fancy a warm, delicious curry mere moments away from the hustle and bustle of Borough Market? Mango Tree is your place! With made-to-order lunch specials that are bargain-priced(especially compared to other restaurants near Borough), you can have a started, veg and main for under £10. The onion bhaji was crisp, well-seasoned and served hot from the fryer. The paneer veg mains were creamy, full of aromatic spice. Hidden down a side alley, Mango Tree is a three minute walk from Borough, and is an excellent way to take a respite from the crowded, touristy mecca of food markets. Warm yourself up with a nice pot of tea, you won’t be disappointed with Mango Tree. The basmati rice is fragrant, and well-portioned. The meat dishes are equally satisfying. If you are wary of too much spice, please alert your server you’d prefer your dish relatively mild. Else their«standard» is slightly on the spicy side.(I prefer it that way, but one of my lunch guests was less keen on the spice level) Delicious enough that it is worth a trip on its own, if paired with a Borough Market shopping trip, you’ve made yourself an excellent start to the day.

I tried to order take out, and the person on the phone lied to me about the delivery driver not being there when he couldn’t figure out what hotel I was at. Then he hung up on me when I asked if I would be able to get any food. Unbelievable.

London has some really great indian food and Mango Tree Indian restaurant is one of them. Located next to the famous marketplace, Mango Tree restaurant was better than any indian food I’ve had in the states. It’s not about the intensity of the flavor but also how balanced you make them… which Mango tree got spot on. We came here during lunch and they had a nice prixe fixe lunch menu. I don’t quite remember how much each prixe fixe combo costed, but I remember it being really decent and easy on the wallet for the amount/quality of food you receive. Chicken kabob: Solid appetizer. Seek kabob: While the flavor was good, it was a bit on the dry side. Okra vegetable mix: This was absolutely fantastic. Could have eaten this as a main dish by itself because it was so flavorful. Chicken Tikka Masala: Very different than what I usually have in the states. This one was much more flavorful and had less of an emphasis on cream. I can tell they used a lot of ingredients in here because the sauce was quite chunky, akin to a purée of flavor. Lamb: Not sure which one I ordered but it was really delicious and cooked exceptionally. The lamb had very little gamey flavor to it. Basmati rice: Usually I don’t rave about rice but this was great. The rice was seasoned well and was extremely fragrant. Who knew rice alone could have so much essence. Garlic nhan: This didn’t come with the set meal but is a must order. Crispy and full of garlicy goodness. 5 stars. I’m extremely happy I found this place on Unilocal so don’t miss this place!

Excellent indian place in London. Service was great and food was very tasty not too spicy. We came late and they greeted us with a large smile. I’d recommend it in a heartbeat!

Very nice food, Norwegian family of four had a late dinner, all of us was very satisfied. A bit noisy but I guess it was just happy people trying to overnoise each other.

This place was great! I came here with my parents after seeing a play at the Globe. They even let us in the restaurant about 10 minutes before it technically opened because we were so hungry. I ordered the Makhani Murgh, my mom the ordered Lamb Korma, and my dad ordered the Kadai Lamb Lahori. We all shared a side of Sagg Aloo and lots of basmati rice. My parents have pretty conservative palates(particularly my dad), and all of us were thoroughly pleased with our dishes. They did make a mistake on the bill and charged us for different(and more expensive) rice than the basmati rice we ordered. But when we pointed out the mistake, they quickly removed the charge and gave us the basmati rice for free, which was nice.

I was craving Halal food. Unfortunately it was raining(go figure) when the front desk recommended this place to me. They have quite an extensive menu and are affordable. My choices were varied and each one was spicy and delicious. The portions were generous and not too costly. Their delivery service was quick and I hope the next time I’m in London I can go there in person.

Wow, one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever been to, and yes — I’ve been to India. Near the Tate museum, on a quiet street. It’s nice to get away from the crowd. The lamb shank, the chef’s specialty is decadent, with meat falling off the bone. Many thumbs up!

My husband and I had a late dinner here on our honeymoon. We had a wonderful meal of starters and drinks. We had a nice quiet, romantic meal. The service was great, but the food was even better. We had aloo tiki, vegetable samosa, Sholey chicken tikka, some kind of onion appetizer, and garlic nan. We loved everything. Definitely a hidden gem!

Delicious!!! My husband and I were on our way to check out the Tate modern museum and wanted to check out some Indian fare since London is known for some great Indian curries! Found this place on Unilocal and it was easy to navigate to on our phone gps. The place looks a little out of place but it’s cozy and has some great food! We started with some tea and then ordered the lunch special with 2 items which was a pretty good deal. We both ordered the chicken tikka masala and got the lamb and chicken starters. We also got the vegetable of the day included with our meal which was okra. Oh, we didn’t forgot about naan! We ordered a side of garlic naan as well! The whole meal didn’t take too long to come out and everything was really delicious! The tikka masala had a more tomatoe-y tang that was more prominent in this dish then I was used too but it was still very delicious. The okra had great flavors to it and the starters were flavorful and cook perfectly. Would love to come back for dinner to try other dishes!

I was on business trip and was in London for a week, was staying in a nearby place. Found this place on Unilocal and visited them as I was craving for Indian food. The food is really good, very authentic Indian taste. The customer service is very good too. Overall very good experience.

My wife and I visited late in the evening. We were seated within 5 minutes with no reservation. This is not a large restaurant, so we may have been a bit lucky! Being the simple Americans that we are, we ordered the classic choice of Chicken Korma and Tikka Misala, along with rice and naan. The food was ready in a normal amount of time. Not fast, not slow. The korma was sweeter than what we are used to, and the tikka misala was spicier than expected as well, but this just added to the variety and everything tasted great. We felt the price was reasonable too. Our female servers were nice, and the male manager was nice to us, but at one point he seemed angry and started arguing with one of his female staff. We couldn’t tell what he was saying, but we felt bad for her, and it all really just seemed inappropriate and disrespectful. Maybe they were just having a stressful night. I hope that isn’t the norm. So anyhow, 5 stars for the food, but 4 stars overall. If you like Indian food, give this place a try.

a dressed up Indian restaurant fitting for the Borough Market neighborhood. Sleek interior with very, very comfortable seating. friendly service. southern style dishes — lots of coconut + cashew seasoned items. we had a meat curry, veg curry, some rice, nan. fresh, flavorful, delicious. only complaint is about the nan. it’s a really small portion and might just be store bought. very reminiscent of what i get at the grocery store and throw in the oven… otherwise, it’s a decent, more upmarket style Indian place. prices reflected.

I’ll admit that I don’t remember exactly what we had here. There was a lamb dish and a chicken dish which seemed to come cloaked in the same tomato-y type sauce. Poor ordering on our part but they were both delicious. We also got a couple of veggie sides, one with aubergine and the saag aloo(at least I remembered the name of one dish!) Lovely meal away from the crowds of Borough Market. Yum!

Was in the neighborhood and craving for indian food. Looked up Unilocal and this restaurant had a good review. I’m happy to say that it did not disappoint. I had lal mas(braised lamb in chili) with garlic naan. The lamb was tender, the sauce is spicy and full of flavor, the garlic naan perfectly cooked in the tandoor oven with crisp edges. Service is warm, friendly, and accommodating. Highly recommend.

Terrific food, friendly and pleasant staff, what’s not to love. My partner and I came here for dinner after a play at the Old Vic and lucky for us they had a single table left(clearly popular). We ordered samosas and the chilli squid for starter and the chicken chettinad and a spicy lamb curry(can’t remember the name), naan, and the black lentil dahl. Everything delicious and I think reasonably priced. With a beer and wine each the whole thing came to £65.

Wow. Best Indian food I I can recall. Tikka meat plate had two chicken types that were done perfectly and tasted fantastic. The lamp chops were amazing. I didn’t care for the ground lamb thingies but that is ok since I was too full by then. The samosa and gelato desert was excellent. The appetizer(like very light and crispy tortilla chips with 4 dips or sauces) was also excellent. I only have one day here and I am thinking of coming back.

I was on my own and had no trouble getting seated at 845pm on a Thursday. It was busy, but not overwhelmingly so. For starters, Popadam and various chutney were good. I don’t remember the name of the dish I got(sorry!) but it was a flavored with coconut and«generously spiced» according to the menu. The sauce was very tasty, hot and flavorful but not overwhelmingly spicy. The chicken pieces were well cooked, but a tad tougher than I usually find in Indian food. Peshwari naan was yummmmmmy. To be fair, I think all Indian food in the UK is amazing because the options in the US just don’t compare. Taayaab’s is still my favorite for Indian in London, but Mango Tree was great and a better location for me this evening.

great food at a moderate(for London) price. crowded, so make a reservation. In an interesting area, so if you do have to wait, there are plenty of places to have a drink. Food is varied, though more limited menu than many local Indian restaurants these days.
