Just a quick caveat before I launch in. I was stressed, late and rushing to a meeting when I visited this non-​descript looking bakery on platform 14 at Victoria’s sprawling mainline station. I scoffed a croissant in approximately 57 seconds and then proceeded to attempt another before realising that I was being a total pig, and failing to curtail my tardiness.
I don’t think my scoff fest compares well to Joey (Jaws) Chestnut — crowned champion at Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island. Jaws also set a new world record, wolfing down 68 hot dogs (and their buns) in ten minutes. Impressive.
