This has got to be the strangest Marks and Spencer store in London. This branch seems to have no defined identity. It is mainly a food store, but also offers clothing, household goods, travel goods, cosmetics and kitchenware. The problem is, that it does not have enough of anything to satisfy a shoppers needs. At the front of the store they have a good card selection, and a small selection of plants and flowers. Behind this the store is mainly made up of the food hall, which is hit nd miss in relation to its stock. At the back the store houses all the other bits and bobs. The staff too don’t seem to be of a standard that is usually expected of M&S. So why do I come here? I mainly come here to collect my ’ click and collect’ items that I order on the internet. I also come here for some food items and cards. The M&S dine in for 2 with wine for £10 deal is good, but if you come here for it, make sure you get here early in the day. They tend to have a limited selection, and tend to run out early in the day.

Amazing company, terribly operated store. — Fewer and fewer staff working at most points during the week leads to big queues at the tills. However… + All of the shop floor staff are well trained and friendly. They really are great here. — Often, there are no staff working on the tills, just self service. I do not visit M&S for Tesco style service. Their lower cost model justifies that. Marks and Sparks do not have an excuse. — The selection of foods on offer is strange and often tough to get all of the items needed to cook certain meals. — Yellow sticker discounts — this is a strange gripe but the items that are nearing their Sell By date are reduced. However, taking 60p off a £6 dish is not my idea of a worthy discount. What happens if the customers don’t buy these? Do the staff get further discount? Is that the reason for the measly reductions? — Dine in 2 people for £10 deal. I have even written a formal complaint to head office over this. They were unsympathetic however. If the website advertises some tempting offers ie steak/scallops/more luxury main courses, this branch rarely ever has them. Always the most cheap items such as plain ol’ «chicken» as the main course. Does the manager want his profit margin to be unaffected by the discount deals? All in all, worth a trip to nearby Camden, Edgware Road or Marble Arch stores. Far superior.

Marks and Spencer is always great quality. I personally do not shop for their clothes; however I do shop a lot for their food and occasionally home ware. However due to size this Marks and Spencers mostly sells food. Their food can always be relied upon to be of great quality, and although this reflects in the price tag I often think it is worth it for a treat. If you are lucky they do reduce items that are near sell by date and you can really pick up a bargain! The store is well laid out and finding things is made really easy, the staff are also courteous.
