Afraid not much to say on this place — nothing awful, nothing great. Just meh! A well located pub, which was very quiet on a Sunday afternoon although I have seen it packed on a summer weekday evening. The drinks price isn’t extortionate and has a good selection of local ales. The place itself is a bit dated and needs a bit of a spring clean, mainly because of the stale beer smell that filled it!

Popped in here for post-dinner drinks on my last night in London… it’s weird to say that now, but I’ll try not to get distracted. It was a Tequila Tuesday… my last in London, focus… and a group of friends and I came in for a drink/nightcap. We had pints and shots of tequila, unsurprisingly, and sat around enjoying each others’ company. The pub is actually quite tiny, but luckily wasn’t busy and we were able to tuck in nicely for an hour or so. There’s not a whole lot to report – it’s kind of a standard pub, and part of a chain. The service was good, though nothing that really blew me away. They didn’t get perturbed at us getting a bit silly with the tequila, which I always appreciate. As a stop on my last night, it certainly was a respectable one.

To the reviewers complaining about them closing early: It is a matter of licensing. Some pubs only have a license till 11pm and a breach of it can result in your alcohol serving license being suspended.

Although a chain pub and tied to the St. Austell brewery, Marquis of Granby is a warm and friendly place. I only stayed there for a few pints. The Nicholson Pale Ale on cask was quite lovely, but their Porter was only so-so. Looking through the menu, the food seemed to be a notch above standard pub fare(at least the pictures indicated this). If I were in the area and wanted a quick pint, I’d come back this way again.

Boo hiss they closed at 11am and kicked us out. Hmmm, so very unimpressed. Don’t they know they are in the middle of town? They need to rethink this move especially as the pub round the corner was open and we all just went there. Fail!

For some reason this is our favourite work pub? Smells funny but is cheap and inoffensive.

I’m not asking for much but the following are expected: a barman who’s pleasant — or at least civil. Ok, just not actively rude muzak that can be turned down as well as up to ear splitting levels a HANDLE on the inside of the toilet door. I mean, come on

This is a lovely and attractive pub — inside and outside. It’s nicely decorated inside, making it a cosy place. Really friendly service. Very good selection of real ales, wines and other drinks. Close enough to Oxford Street.

What a fantastic pub! Formerly known as The Goose, this is a cozy and traditional pub with a modern twist. Offering a wide selection of beers on tap(Fruit beers, Foreign beers and ciders, lagers and many many great british bitters), this is a comfy retreat for anyone wanting a catch up with friends. The downstairs is open all day and offers bar snacks and lunch, along with a great variety of nooks and crannies with comfortable chairs to relax in. In the evening, the upstairs reveals a paradise of leather sofas and candles. Avoid it early on a friday evening, as customers spill out onto the sidewalk it’s so packed During the week though, or a saturday later on, it’s a great place to relax and nurse a pint on those cold winter evenings! Prices are what you’d expect from a pub in london not cheap, but the more unusual beers on tap are fairly reasonable and fun to try. It’s also a great place to leave your significant other, while having a girly shopping afternoon with friends!
