Staff were friendly, helpful with menu choices and quick to serve. The food was great! We were all happy. I had the lamb and chicken skewers which tasted like they’d been marinating in spices for some time. I couldn’t complain about anything. Nothing. That doesn’t happen. Ever! My in-laws were happy with their musaka and dolma(sp) We had the meze plate to start and when our meals came around we realised we’d need a few doggy bags. Over all good meal, and super friendly environment.

A useful addition to the Northcote Road restaurant scene, Masa is first and foremost a specialist in «from the grill» Turkish cuisine, occupying the old site of Tony’s Café. Turkish food being a firm favourite, I was keen to give it a try — Saturday lunchtime, in the dark heart of Nappy Valley, was predictably a) busy, and b) full of kids. Meze were generous, and some trickier items(kalamar and whitebait among them) well executed, and the staff were very friendly and reasonably prompt. The bulk of the menu consists of stalwarts such as assorted kofte, shish, and so on — I had hoped there might be one or two somewhat more outré choices, but there were not. Or perhaps it’s fairer to say, not yet; it may take a little while to develop the confidence(for example, demonstrated by the mighty Mangla Hisar in East Dulwich) to be serving up goodies such as quail. This being a reasonably well-heeled, reasonably sophisticated part of town, I hope this comes in time. Oh, and bulgur wheat as an alternative to chips or rice, please ! — — — — – News flash! 15 Sept 2014 — — — — – Sadly, it looks a lot like Masa has closed– Franco Manca next door were pdq to grab more table space on the pavement outside!
