I’m really disappointed with Massala Hut. We went there for a team dinner(there were about 12 of us), and ordered the food in advance. The restaurant itself was very dull and felt cheap, which would have been fine if we’d had a good meal, however it was expensive, at around £17-£22 a head for a main, rice or naan and a drink and the food quality was well below par. Food came out shortly after we arrived, but considering we arrived on time and the kitchen were fully aware of what we wanted, it was lukewarm and tasted as if it had been under the hotplate for a while. My spicy poppadum(a rip off at 95p), wasn’t spicy and was tiny. It also came folded in two. For the main I’d ordered the non-vegetarian thali(at around £15), and was shocked that it came as all meat, without any vegetable sides/pots. Two of the four pots were tandoori grill and the other was chucks of chicken in a red sauce and the last lamb with spinach. The rice was dry and the naan was soft and felt old and stringy. Service was also terrible, we were made to feel as if we had inconvenienced them, although we’d told them well in advance our orders to make it easy for them. They rushed everything out and were very curt. One of our party ordered an extra naan and was made to feel like a criminal. Really not what I had hoped for.

Awful Indian(Bengali) food at its worst. Very busy obviously unsuspecting tourists. Worst so called India food I have had for a long time. Not sure they have a tandoor so it’s grilled however my grilled fish turned out to be deep fried. How I wish people would make an effort and cook proper Asian food I don’t know. There are supposed to be a few good places on this street but this is not one of them.

A great restaurant, gordon ramesy ate here(so the photo in the window professes). Friendly staff, the food was tastey but nothing amazing — but that was my experience — still a good spot.

They say the food in London is terrible, but I beg to differ with most of the experiences I have had so far. Also, they warned me not to expect Indian food as good as some of the spots we have in South Florida. au contrair mon frère. We ordered 4 different dishes to share and I will rate them in order of favorite to least favorite, although they all recieved 5 stars. So I would consider them 5A, 5B, 5C, 5D, etc… Lamb Sagh — 5A Wow, what a dish. It consisted of a spinach and onion base in the curry and carried a medium to medium hot spice level. It was delicious and tender and not overwhelming on the heat level. Lamb Tikka — 5B This dish was also a delight with a medium spice level. Lamb Tikka is more of a grilled lamb style and was not a curry dish. There was a great aroma and blend of spices coming from the meat even though it was not served in a curry type of gravy. Chicken Kari — 5C Our third item on this list was the Chicken Kari. It was a curry sauce with yogurt, tomatoes, onion, garlic, and ginger in this mild spice dish. I feel like this was my favorite dish that evening, actually, no wait, I take that back, the Lamb was still my top faves!!! Chicken Tikka Massala — 5D Finally the traditional safe dish. This Chicken Tikka Massala was super creamy and was a mild spice level dish. I learned that traditionally the spice levels are based on the type of dish you order and that when we make these types of dishes spicy back at home we are taking away from some of the blends of spices. We also added an order of Pilau rice which contains some vegetables in it as well. Garlic Stuffed, Garlic topped and Cheese Naan to accompany these dishes were clearly freshly baked and were all excellent as well. I am close to saying that this is probably the best Indian I have ever had thus far during my quest to find the best. Funny enough, as we are leaving the restaurant, we saw a picture of the family owners with Gordon Ramsay and that only further confirmed our suspicions. great job guys!

The food was great, and the prices were good too(came here with a discount). A lot of vegetarian options(being an Indian restaurant), and the portions were a good size as well. Naan and rice were good. My friend and I were in a rush in the evening, and everything arrived promptly. Unfortunately, 12.50% service charge was awkwardly added onto the bill — despite being«discretionary», this practice seems suspicious especially when considering tourists and people who don’t understand the word«discretionary».

Average at best, but above average prices. Food: The food was reasonably well cooked, though not very generous portions at all. Table Our table was fairly greasy and we were crammed up against some dusty unused catering equipment that was half covered with a tarpaulin. The word ‘tarpaulin’ and restaurant should never be in the same sentence in my opinion. Facilities The toilets were pretty grubby and tiny, also one of them was not fixed to the floor so nearly toppled when I tried to flush it. Staff Staff were very brusque and couldn’t really be bothered to smile. The ‘discretionary 12.5% service charge’ was so discrete it was just added as another line on our bill! This street claims to be North London’s answer to Brick Lane, but to be honest I think Brick Lane and Whitechapel knock the spots off this place. If you’re stuck in Euston and fancy a curry, go to Euston Square and get on the tube and go to Aldgate East and get yourself something better and cheaper.

I’m going in between 3 – 4 stars for this place. I stayed at a hotel not too far from here, and we chose this place because its menu beat out the rest of the Indian on the street. The service was a bit sketch. The waiter was very friendly, but the place was understaffed, so it took him forever to get to us. The food was actually pretty amazing We had the chicken tikka balti and the crab masala. They were very well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Authentic British Indian cuisine. 8 – 10 bobbys were eating here as well, so it was definitely safe. Overall, this place was good, but don’t expect quick service.

Decent enough curry house, though the service is a tad sketchy. Wouldn’t rush back, but wouldn’t rule it out. Overall: MEH-sala Hut.
