May & Stephens Secretarial Recruitment Agency

I was lucky enough to get a permanent job through them a few years ago but a while back I was made redundant. Well, I decided to give May & Stephens another try based on my experience with them before, but they said that because I got my last job from them they couldn’t act for me this time around. Seems an odd excuse and nobody I have spoken to has heard of this from an agency before.

Would not recommend. Worked for a investment bank through May & Stephens and they were awkward when I wanted a day off although the law states that an employee is entitled to a day off when seven straight days worked. The second time I went back to a solicitors through them it didn’t work out as the client wanted 2 and a half years worth of files done in quick time before I went to Mauritius. No, I like concentrating on what I’m doing and I will continue when I get back from holiday especially as it’s the permanent postroom staff member’s job really.
May & Stephens accused me of sending them insulting emails and said somebody else could have had that job when I said I preferred my regular agency’s clients. At the first successful assignment with the solicitors they said to me I’d achieved something nobody else had been able to and I was informed that the owner’s daughter had tried to do the job and couldn’t complete it. I’d like to give them one star but they get two as the first time they got me an assignment at the firm of solicitors it helped me out before I went on a long cruise. Rates of pay I found slightly better than other agencies and I was always paid on time.
