It’s interesting to see the very mixed reviews of this place, I personally loved it. We sat downstairs at the bar and I’ve noticed at least one other recommend this. it’s a particular nice copper-topped bar with a view of the extensive vermouth selection. You can build your own negroni here, although they don’t let you order one that tastes terrible. For example, our charming server said that he would like to make a small sample of my suggestion to see what it tastes like(it was intense), but also made me his own preference which came out tasting like cocktail chocolate, which was great. A very fun way to get to know negronis! Meanwhile, we order a few snacks. The burrata was delicious as per its inherent deliciousness. The other thing we order initially was basically sausage wrapped in fatty bacon and it genuinely was one of the best things I’ve eaten in a while. Probably something to do with the high fat content… We ordered another round of this and added some calamari which were also really nice. I’d like to come back for dinner but if you’re unsure about committing to that given some of the other reviews I would suggest having some cocktails and snacks at the bar.

I went here as part of bookatable’s 3 courses for £20 deal. A quick walk from Piccadilly Circus station, Mele e Pere looks warm and clean with colourful glass sculptures lining its wall. The waitress greeted us and sat the 2 of us on a large 6 person table which was great. We were handed a wine list, an a la Carte menu and the set menu. The set menu was completely different from the sample menu on bookatable except for the desserts which is totally fine, we’re not that picky. The waitress was also super attentive even though she was the only one serving the whole floor. Then the food started to come out. The cheesy mushroom starter was oily with sandy gritty bits in it. The beef carpaccio starter was thin and bland, kind of like ham slices you buy at the supermarket. For the main I had pork belly while my friend had the salmon. Both was pretty bland tasting. We both opted for the chocolate mousse dessert with milk ice cream. We agreed that this was the best of the 3 courses but it still wasn’t that great. To be honest I would rather have spent the £20 on one good dish rather than 3 bland dishes. All 3 dishes reminded me of ready to cook/pre made dishes you get at the supermarket. It also took a while for the food to come out between courses. This wasn’t a huge problem for us as we were chatting away but definitely something to consider. The saving grace was our waitress although we did have to pay a 12.5% service charge for it.

Mele and Pere, a Trattoria and Vermouth Bar opened by Andrea Mantovani and Peter Hughes, have launched their new breakfast menu of delicious smoked salmon and cream cheese buns together with delectable homemade pastries that taste so much better than the shop bought varieties. Their flapjacks are brimming with fruit and nuts, tiered carrot cake, cakey chocolate filled pastries, doughnuts with scrumptious vanilla filled custard, and their take on the famous«jammy dodgers.» Upstairs eating is in modern surroundings well decorated with coloured glass fruit in the showcase and an additional larger dining area downstairs. We are looking forward to next time trying their full Mele breakfast sandwich — sourdough with an Italian twist(homemade sausage, smoked pancetta, egg and relish). Go check out their new breakfast menu!

Everything tastes so much better when washed down with their signature brilliant new coffee from the guys at Terrone and Co Roastery! Lovely smart-casual atmosphere. £20 three-course set menu with prosecco was superb value and the food taste/quality outstanding! Would go back in heartbeat

Great ambiance. Best steak I have ever had outside New York, and the cows are from surrey! Gnocchi was good too

Wonderfully low key from the outside — lest the Murano glass display and neon sign aren’t giveaways — yet thrumming with activity inside, Mele e Pere is a favourite go-to when the rest of Soho is busy lining up for the next ridiculous fad. Essentially a mid-range modern Italian, it’s miles away from the archetypal red sauce joint and oozes sex appeal in the downstairs basement dining room with lots of plush leather and stained wood. We had good bread and excellent negronis, and shared a veal and polenta main(ever so slightly salty but delicious) and a buttery gnocchi main showered with black truffles. Staff are trained well and it shows — they appeared when we needed them but were never intrusive, and were a pleasure all evening. The whole operation gets the important things right, and it shows. We had a great evening.

Wasn’t what I expected — food was delicious and reasonable. Prix fixe menu was the way to go. Was only going to do 2 courses, but the first two were so good we made room for dessert.

Majority of us ordered from the three course set menu for £20(excluding service charge). It definitely work out cheaper then ordering from the a la carte, but of course you do not get a large choice of dishes. From the set menu I started with the Braised veal breast, chiodini mushrooms, black olives and polenta. I was slightly disappointed with the dish as there was only a sprinkle of shredded braised veal breast. It’s definitely a starter because there was not much of this of what I described as a thick soup. My main i went for the tagliatelle with beef ragu, which is basically a spaghetti bolognese. There was nothing special and just average pasta dish. I would had prefer go opting for the fish dish which looked more appetising. Dessert I choice the tiramisu which I found too sweet with lack of coffee flavour. I found this to be my least favourite Tiramisu I have had at a restaurant. it did not taste like the tiramisu I recognise. Overall the food and service is average. The most disappointing was when we were paying. Some of paid card and some paid cash which in total should be more than the bill so advise the waitress there is roughly £10 change. After leaving to get the change, she comes back to tell us there is no change and showed us a new receipt with a different total of the bill, which had £10 more service charge(more than the discretionary 12.5%). Lucky I took a photo of the receipt we originally was presented, with the correct calculated service charge. I don’t know where the error was, from the waitress or the system. But do remember to check your bill has been calculated correctly whether you dine at Mele e Pere or any other restaurant. We could have been paying more service charge than stated on the receipt or menu.

Definitely the best Martini cocktails in town. Ask for a seat at the bar downstairs and enjoy the huge selection of drinks carefully prepared by wise barmen. Interesting pre-theatre menu, I like to have a couple of Martini and olive ascolana — fried olives with stuffed meat(they actually use nduja which is far more interesting). Good selection of wines, I go there during peak times and rarely have to wait to be seated. A 5 star for quality, atmosphere, staff. A must go in Soho.

The breads, oh the breads. This Italian family run restaurant bakes its own bread and ciabatta. We had them as tapas for our Pinot Grigio. Actually we tasted two types of Pinot Grigio — a younger and an older one, both excellent. The prices are very reasonable for Soho. The staff is very friendly and it feels very cosy there. The stracciatella cheese dish is authentic and so is the house made Vermouth. The place gets full after 6pm so you’d better make a reservation.

— Mele e Pere is a family-run restaurant, which serves the best of authentic Italian cuisine in the heart of Soho. — Open from lunchtime continuously into late evening, every day of the week — we went there for drinks: they offer homemade Vermouth along with a list of predominantly Italian wines by the bottle and glass — service was friendly; atmosphere was relaxed; furniture is modern, simple and here and there a little bit fancy — we tried dry white Vermouth(4.00GBP) and Rhubarb and Rosehip Spritz(classic spritz with bitter rhubarb and rosehip; 7.00GBP) Conclusion: Nice bar with nice drinks in a nice atmosphere!

With many enticing things on the menu, you will want to share the dishes. For two or three, I recommend sharing two appetizers, a pasta, and one or two entrees. The atmosphere and staff is very cool, fun, and chill. I highly recommend coming here regularly.

Italian food in London. It’s not really a cuisine I seem out as I tend to make and prefer my own versions of the most common meals like moussaka, pizza, lasagne, spaghetti… the list goes on. Having noticed Mele e Pere in a bookatable deal I decided to make a trip here for the 3. Course menu with Peosecco and apart from a few service hiccups, it was a stellar experience of quality Italian fare far away from your stradas and pizza expresses of this world. From the outside the place looks tiny but it’s deceptively large. For food you’re take. Downstairs and a tardis is an accurate description of the space down here. It’s well lit, large with simplicity and a homely feel. Music is the perfect ambience. Half way through eating the lights dimmed very nicely to create a nice intimate mood. Every gasped a little. It was a nice touch. The food itself I had to qualms with. The starter great with gnocchi fritti which was like a pillowed doughnut. This led the way for an excellent organic salmon, mussels and broccoli stem fish that was superb. The dessert great as well. A nice large piece of goats cheese with a sweet sour green tomato and what was surely homemade walnut bread. Stunning The only minor here was the service. One of our group ordered the winter lasagne dish and was incorrectly given the pork belly. 10 minutes later the salmon dish was brought out but this was wrong too! It was almost comical how you could get a dish not wrong once but twice. This would normally count negatively against a business but they were so nice about it, removing my friends main from the bill and offering us a large spread of sides as an apology. They say bad things happen for a reason and if it hadn’t I wouldn’t have tried the amazing ascolana fried spicy olives. Extremely yum. So in all it was a fabulous food, top notch service even despite the mistakes. If this is how every business corrected their mistakes I would be all too happy to get the wrong order 9⁄10 times I’d definitely swing by again if in the area. The bar looks quite cool too and you can order sides to share here too.

I don’t really know where to go for a drink in Soho that isn’t a gay bar or insanely busy. SoI was a bit put on the spot when at 9 o’clock on a Friday, we wanted to share another bottle of wine and all eyes were on me. As we walked past, we noticed Mele e Pere’s upstairs bar area was not too busy at 9pm on a Friday night. We went in and noticed a few people eating but we were allowed to take a table anyway just to for drinks. I have no idea what the food is like but prices were reasonable(for Soho) and the atmosphere was nice. It’s like a Tardis downstairs(the restaurant part seems to go under several businesses) It’s good to know places that won’t be rammed and won’t pressure you into having food to get a table and service was there when we needed it.

Mele e Pere is an unexpected new favourite. The ground floor bar looks sterile and rather uninviting. I would have walked right past had my friend not mentioned how nice the subterranean bar was. What’s not to love about a place offering prosecco on tab! We dropped in for a couple of drinks and bar snacks(I second the compliment on the excellent bread!) to recover from a heavy day at the sales. This is now on my list of places to go in Soho and I will gladly return for a proper meal — and definitely more bubbly.

Most italian places in soho are tourist traps but there is more to this place than meets the eye. From street level you can only see the bar, the main dining area is in the basement. I came here for an office christmas lunch and had the 3 course set menu. My main course was gnocchi with black truffle shavings. While the aroma of the dish was tantalizing, it failed to deliver on flavour. Dessert was good — chocolate ice cream with a warm pannetonne. Service was efficient and for a large group, the dishes arrived quickly and promptly. Its a safe option if you have a big group and need somewhere central. Otherwise Soho is quite a competitive area for good eats.

We ordered several things and shared: Spicy fried ascolana olives £3.5 Burrata with san marzano tomato pappa Tagliatelle with beef ragù Aubergine and feta cheese ravioli with mushrooms, hazelnuts and veal jus EVERYDISHWASDELICIOUS. The only thing we didn’t like was the noise level…

I am a bit baffled to see another place that is rated not very high on Unilocal but that definitely deserves a higher score than three stars«A-OK» in my opinion. Mele e Pere is a place in Soho that you can easily walk past without even grasping what this shop is about. One lazy afternoon I popped in and was delighted with some very tasty Italian food. Immediately when I entered the restaurant, I was seated in the street level bar area by a very nice and friendly waitress. There is also a restaurant seating area downstairs. I started my late lunch with an assortment of delicious bread. When I questioned the waitress about the orange-coloured bread, she explained that the colour comes from tomatoes. They bake the breads themselves, allowing them to create different mixes when they like. Besides the bread, I also ordered arancini as starter, which tasted fabulous. As main I went for a small tagliatelle with beef ragù. First of all, it was looking beautiful. Besides looking great, it also tasted excellent. Although you could think of it as just another bolognese dish, it tasted far better than any bolognese pasta I tasted before. To finish my meal, I selected the strawberry tart. It was difficult to pick one of the delicious dessert options, but the strawberry tart sounded good and was even better on the plate. Mele e Pere is truly an excellent Italian restaurant. The dishes look great and taste even better than they look. The service is impeccable and the staff are very friendly. I did not quite understand, why I got two glasses of cloudy homemade lemonade instead of one and after I did not look at my bill in detail, I did not notice it when I paid. But as I will definitely go there again, I am sure I will make up for it rather sooner than later.
