I can’t comment on the downstairs bar, as I was in the upstairs function room. Very nice room which has its own bar and a lovely snug to the side. They have a good range of drinks, and a reasonably diverse menu. So why only 3 stars. The burger. It was tasteless and extremely undercooked(to the point that on reflection I should have asked them to cook it some more…). Despite that I probably would come back, just order something different next time!

Came here on the night of the super blood moon. Pretty quiet. I guess people clear out after the World Cup matches finish. Anyway friendly staff, nice food. I had the roast chicken which was really delicious. My friend had a sweet potato dish which she enjoyed but I found way too spicy. Anyhow, pretty cool for a local pub. Recommend.

This usefed to be such a dump. Recently refurbished again. It’s a great little local. Food not bad either. A welcomed addition to an even decreasing list of pubs in the area.

Neighbourhood pub, similar selection of beers as any pub in the area, closes the kitchen way too early as most of the pubs in the area do. Here’s where it’s different –beer garden in the back where(weather permitting) you can have a pint outside –above average pub fare, with meat and cheese spreads and beer-battered fish(& chips) that a) is a decent meal and b) bears no resemblance to McDonald’s filet o’ fish There is technically wifi here, but it’s just through TheCloud and is so terrible it should be used only at the most desperate of times. Weekends here begin on Thursdays(from the size of the crowds).

Like the other reviews, it’s hit or miss. Some days /nights can be a lot of fun, other times, well And I’ve been coming by here since 2005. It all depends on the crowd. Good food. But the plus is great staff.

I used to feel about the Metropolitan just like jwhittock describes in his review. I popped in every now and again but was never quite convinced, especially as The Grand Union across the bridge seemed to have it all. We went for a mid-week drink after work to celebrate a friend’s birthday last night. We were lucky to find space at one of the big wooden tables, and we ended up staying well beyond the couple of beers we had planned credit to the Metropolitan and its lovely staff! And if the quality of the nachos is anything to go by the food is well worth giving a try, too. I’m now quite keen to visit again soon you will definitely find me at one of the acoustic nights, if not the newly introduced Sunday pub quiz!

Their sidewalk chalkboard did its job: it lured me in with its promise of «2 for 1 burgers on Monday and Tuesday». And I gotta say: they’re not bad burgers. They have a few options, including a veggie and a ‘chicken burger’, which we all know is actually a sandwich, but this is a rant for another day. Their tap and bottle selection is decent, as is the wine list, which is also reasonably priced given the area. They also do several nights of live music throughout the week. The whole place seems a little identity crisis-ish, but I suppose you can chalk that one up to the neighbourhood(yuppies vs. neighbourhood old timers vs. the odd tourist). Although, it’s more charming than it is annoying.

The Met is a cool pub, literally less than a minute from Westbourne Park Tube station. Nice atmosphere, definitely not pretentious, which is a break from what I’ve come to expect living round here! The bar staff are up for a chat or a laugh, and are very friendly. The Met has a couple of rooms upstairs, the Lounge which is a little more cosy than the main room downstairs, fireplace too. Also there’s a Snug, which can be used for a more… intimate drink/meal. They’re one of the pubs around the country that shows 3D football matches in their Lounge(get there early though, it gets crowded!), and coupled with the pretty decent food, that makes me a happy boy! Speaking of food, they have a 2 Met burgers for 1 offer on Tuesdays, and the burgers are not half bad! The menu itself has mostly what you’d expect, at a reasonable price. Most meals under £10, and your usual selection of Steak Sandwich, Fish & Chips, Bangers & Mash, etc. The menu does offer some sides, and a small dish selection as well. It’s well situated for transport(three bus routes, and two tube lines less than a minute away), about 10 minutes away from Portobello Road, which is just far enough to escape the crowds on a Saturday afternoon! Definitely my first choice local!

The Metropolitan is a great local bar just next to Westbourne Park tube, making it a good spot to meet people. It gets busy even on the weekday evenings, with people grabbing a post work drink, or some really good pub food. The sausage and mash is great, and perfect for a cold winters day. I like the large ceilings and the relaxed atmosphere of this traditional looking place. It looks out onto the street corner too, so its nice to look out at the people and cars. I like doing wherever I am, so its not a comment on the environment as such. There are some great draft beers available too!

The Metropolitan is a great pub which still manages to attract the locals and others who are just passing through. During the summer the pub is heaving with punters spilling onto the pavement and into the beer garden. Ideally located next to Westbourne Park station this pub is a great first stop for people heading towards Portobello or Notting Hill. At the weekends there are live DJs so get there early! I have had my bag stolen here but I guess like anywhere in London you have to be always be alert. The Metropolitan is an unpretentious pub– a rarity for this trendy area of West London

This pub is gorgeous! It’s about a 3 second walk from Westbourne Tube, so ideal if you are looking for somewhere easy to get to on a hangover! It’s quite big with large wooden tables and comfy seats and sofas and the food is excellent! There is a separate bit upstairs which you can hire for a private party and when I was last there, they had laid out a really long table up there for a meal for about 20 people– so ideal for a large private dinner party and upstairs even has its own bar! There is also a large smoking outdoor area which is nicely done up too! This place is perfect for lunch, to sit in on a rainy afternoon or to drink away in in the evenings!

The Metropolitan is one of those pubs which I can’t make up my mind about. On one hand everything is in place to be a fine bar/pub/club/party venue. There’s an outside patio which is kept warm in the winter by one of those red heater lights. They have a club night on sunday for those planning to call in sick come monday morning. The beers are a good quality and they do flashy cocktails and food. It has some remnants of old skool pub quality about it. But, despite all of this, I can quite bring myself to really like it in there, and it’s not for the lack of trying. There is something distinctly soulless about the place, but not in the typical gastro-pub way. It’s like an ingredient is missing although they’ve already used everything in the cupboard. If anyone can put there finger on this feeling, you’ll get props from me!
