Millway Surgery *used* to be on, ahem, Millway, but then it realised its property was too small so it moved to… Hartley Ave. Now it is right next to the local library(new parents must be SO happy), and it is flourishing. Firstly, the building was built specifically for the surgery. As a result, everything is where it should be(people, equipment, lifts) and there is sufficient space for plenty of patients. The car park is also cheap to use(thank goodness they got rid of their ‘token’ system; people started hoarding them like Pokémon cards and no one could get out of the car park), albeit a little difficult to navigate when it’s over 70% full. Secondly, the reception is a totally efficient and pleasant space. They rather cleverly installed a computer screen by the desk, so that anyone looking to check-in for an appointment does not have to queue. Moreover, the appointment booking process has been streamlined over the years, which means a greater likelihood that you can get an appointment with the practitioner of your choice on the day, and means that those who *are* queuing at the reception wait less time to have their questions addressed. Finally, staff seem genuinely happy to work at such a lovely surgery. I’ve never seen any altercations, even when patients were being particularly difficult, and each doctor comes across as relaxed when you meet him/her. ABC Pharmacy were quick to cash-in on Millway Surgery’s success — they moved from the Broadway to the surgery’s entranceway. This clearly results in a huge amount of business(the Pharmacy is as efficient as it is convenient) and it means going to Millway is even less of a chore. FYI: They have a fantastic set of Wellness seminars, workshops and education days, including special units for kids, women and weight-losers. P. S. The nursing staff are ridiculously awesome.
