Soups, and noodles, an everything else you need to soak up the sauce. This place is right on Hoxton Square and stays open petty late on a weekend. It’s right over the road from Trafik if you fancy a shot while you wait.

I really wanted to like this restaurant. Ever since passing the menu of the one in Angel, and realizing there was one so close to my home in Hoxton, I was psyched. I really, really wanted to like it, I even came in with reasonably low expectations, but I just didn’t. We picked up the won tons with noodles in stock and a few appetizer specials: duck spring rolls and short ribs. Starting with the starters, I was hopeful. They were delicious, and well above par for your typical generic Asian takeout expectations. The duck rolls were tender and the ribs were deliciously seasoned and the ribs were soft and well cooked without being too stringy and tough. I remember commenting to my boyfriend that the ribs seemed a bit salty, but considering the uncharacteristically warm weather here in London, I mused that perhaps someone was adjusting the recipe(yes, I have heard that some restaurants use more salt in summer). The soup with noodles and wontons smelled good, but the broth was so salty it didn’t even taste like anything else(meat, herbs, or otherwise). It looked nice, it smelled nice, but it tasted of nothing but salt and a bit unnervingly non-descript«umami.» I tried to salvage it by pouring some of the broth out and adding in water, which at least left it edible. Still, I was so disappointed. With all of the herbs and meats and spices that can make soup stock a sensuous and fresh experience, this was painfully lacking, even for takeout. So, Miso, I would probably visit again to grab starters if I was having a girls night in with some beer and a movie or even a quiet night studying myself. Actually, this restaurant would serve that purpose very well, since it is very reasonably priced and in that capacity the food would impress. However, I think our full dining relationship has ended before it began.

Nice Miso house noodles — generous amount and lots of meat, duck, prawns, chicken, beef — lovely. Quick(but grumpy) service, reasonable prices. Side order of gyoza’s were terrible though, worst I’ve ever had — blatantly not made in house which is a shame. Not bad for a decent sized noodle dish but certainly not mind blowing.

There were hugely contrasting reviews before mine. I will be siding with Glen on this one. My visit to Miso Noodle Bar was excellent. We were in a rush and were going to order takeaway but decided on eating in. Explaining to our waiter that we didn’t have much time, we ordered as soon as we sat. My dining partner and I went for Sweet & Sour Chicken and Special Fried Noodles. It was well within ten minutes of sitting in the clean and spacious restaurant on the bench style seats that our food arrived. I eat Chinese food often and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of both dishes. I have to mark them both down as delicious and portioned for the hungrier eater which will always win points with me. We did not have time to finish and we asked for a doggie bag, which we were given without any strange looks. At £6.85 a dish, this isn’t the cheapest Chinese eatery, but the quality was good enough to offset the price. Although the bulk of the restaurant has the bench style seating that does not suit the romantic diners, I did notice a more intimate section to the restaurant with individual tables. I would definitely recommend for a non-formal outing with colleagues or friends.

A favorite daily lunch hang out, Miso is a knockoff of wagamama serving pan-Asian food, noodle joint style. A very casual and clean space featuring tasty, simple fare. My favorite items on the menu are the many variations of the soup noodles, especially the duck, which I like to subsequently pour a large amount of chili sauce into. The prices, while not being exactly a great value, are fair. With a sparkling water and an entrée, the bill usually ends up being around 8 quid.

I have had the displeasure of eating in this establishment on more than one occasion. I hated it the first time, the second time and the final disgusting time with my work colleagues. The food at Miso is disgusting. It has no taste, is too oily and is of a cheap quality. I can not stand this place. It is not particularly cheap either. I was suckered into coming here a final time because a colleague was leaving. I thought it was a treat(not a really close friend of the girl who left) and later found myself shelling out for my disgusting curry. You would have to drag me back in to this place by my hair and I still wouldn’t eat here. If it means anything, the girlfriend thinks it is okay. I tried another branch of this place and I was also disgusted. Yuck.
