So many street food choices in the one place… got to try a bit from them all… oh no I’m full… lets squeeze a one more in. Hot Box — their beef short rib literally fell of the bone & melted in your mouth Bill or Beak — their chicken wings were crispy & crunchy skin and juicy & tender meat Up in my grill — their bavette steak was a little overdone but the chimchurri was delicious Club Mexicana — side of nachos bought for kids but eaten by the adults as it was so fresh & tasty SE Cakery — lewisham mess for dessert was a big hit. Oreo brownie, peanut brownie, meringue, pretzels & cream. Feast indeed! You doughnut — what is not to love about doughnuts & ice cream with chocolate sauce & sprinkles.

Came here fairly late so didn’t try any food but I have been to street feast to eat before which is basically the same thing in East London(run by same people). Saw my beloved Yum Bun we’re there so if I ever go back I’ll have to get there earlier for some of their delicious hoisin pork buns. £3 entry which I thought was a bit crap but then it’s not a lot of money so wouldn’t put me off going. The music was brilliant, good DJ, lots of people dancing and a really great happy atmosphere. Drinks are massively overpriced… Between £9 and £15 for a cocktail! I got my drinks from the main bar which was cheaper at £4.50 for a vodka & tonic and bottles of sol for £3.50. You have to keep your eye on the bar tenders though as I noticed he almost filled my small plastic cup with tonic(from a cheap big plastic bottle) then just put a small dash of vodka in! If I wasn’t watching I wouldn’t have known… I’m not prepared to pay £4.50 for a small glass of tonic water! When I pointed out what he’d done he just shrugged and added a little more. Bloody cheek. Anyway had a great time even in the cold. Very cool place but bit of a rip off.

The most complicated thing at Model Market is to choose what to eat. There are lots of different stands and some change every week. I would recommend Bao & Le Bun(if they’re here) — take the 3 small dishes plate to get a taste of their full menu. Keep a bit of space for desert and try Brownuts(Donuts filled with Brownie and dipped in chocolate sauce). Lots to drink(Cocktaill, wine, beers) but there’s limited soft drink selection. PS: Arrive before 7pm as they make you pay afterwards(£3) and you want to keep that money for a delicious bao bun.

I’m not sure if many of you know, but the Model Market is back again this summer! And this time it’s open right up till October! Again every Friday and Saturday 5PM — LATE I’ve been 3 times since it has reopened, and I have had a blast each visit! So many amazing food, desert and drink pop ups to choose from, and a DJ on rotation all evening to compliment everyones moves of the dance floor! So if you fancy a great night out on the weekend, you should definitely get down there! It’s Free before 7PM and £3 after

SOGOOD. So much fun. If you get there early enough with a few friends you’ll be able to bag a table, which is very worth it. Sample-sized portions from around £3-£6 make it possible to try lots of different food offerings without breaking the bank, but alcohol is expensive. What’s good really depends on which vendors are there at the time, but the poutine is strong in 2015, as are the bronuts.

You could argue the Model Market is nothing but another step closer to the further gentrification of Lewisham. Another outlet where they charge you entry, only to be in a cramped space with a bunch of hipsters, only to spend all your money on expensive street food and booze. However, catch it early enough to get in for free, choose the right grub(thanks to the georgeous spicey fish cakes, rice and peas and plantain from @Mamasjerk) then it does make a nice change from the norm after work drinks in the summer months.

Well, this is certainly not the old Lewisham market but pop up has taken advantage of dis-used space to make temporary home for a small number of food and drink stalls. You have to gain entrance by the back near the car park not the original front entrance, this is blocked off. Rather surprisingly, there is a £3 entrance fee on entering you are met with a number of stalls selling things such as hot dogs, indian tapas(3 for £9 and were fairly decent size), chinese and italian food. Rum Shack provides you with a variety of cocktails. Piña colada served in a a pineapple, says ideal for two, personally I think it is enough for 1! Prices here are fine if you are used to city pricing i.e. £8 for most of the cocktails on offer more for the pineapple. In the tapas stall seating area, I was interested to see their cool décor which was newspapers from 1975. Maybe found when the original stalls were shutting up shop as original Lewisham market had been there for as long as I can remember and probably even longer than that. There was a bar selling just wine which looked interesting but not as interesting as the stall which was selling a variety of brownies. Mojto, oreo, salted caramel, banoffee, all pretty yummy. As the night goes on, with a DJ ‘throwing down some toooons’, people take to having a little dance in the open area. The night I went it was a bit chilly however, many people were out and about. Place to go to have a little social get together, not sure that it would be my ‘all nighter’ I imagine when it was nice out in the evenings this it was an even better place to come grab a bite to eat and sit in the sun with your pineapple. Worth a pass through if you are around
