The Moonlight is my favourite general all purpose greengrocer and baker in the area. They have a huge range of fruits and vegetables outside(often much cheaper than the supermarkets). The best deals are to be had outside the old store next door where they sell off(normally very generous amounts) for a mere pound. The range is also much better than the supermarkets from year round figs to sharan fruit to artichoke. Inside is also super interesting where they have one of the few working bakeries in the immediate area(I think the next nearest is Euphorium) and have an interesting little deli in the back. Great little place and long may it continue being so.

Moonlight is where I go for the best chillies, veg, and to pick up spices I can’t find in Tesco. The«ethnic food» on offer is a mix of Greek/Turkish staples like feta and halloumi cheeses, dates, baklava, and various dips and snacks(I can’t remember all of them :-p). There’s also a butcher’s counter toward the back, which I haven’t tried yet, but I would really like to. The staff is very friendly, they carry a lot of great basic staples(dried pasta, milk, tinned things, etc) in addition to lovely produce and a great alcohol shop next door. I find that their produce is also often cheaper than Tesco, and just a bit fresher, which makes me really happy as it’s closer to my flat!
