Morrisons

Abandon hope all ye who enter here. This Morrisons is the worst supermarket branch I’ve ever been do. It more closely resembles the kind of dysfunctional grocer one finds in remote residential areas where competition is sparse and hence the incentive to operate properly can be lacking, than a typical representation of the slick supermarket model.
Fruit and veg openly rots in that section of the store, seemingly because no one can be bothered to replace it with fresh stuff. Staff are few and far between, and when they appear, move with a harried pace and sport a scowl on their face that actively dissuades being asked about anything you might be after. The check-​outs are poorly staffed and even the automatic ones don’t work very well.
It’s all very bizarre because this Morrisons is not short of local competition — there’s a Sainsbury’s Local across the Green and just 200 metres away is the thriving, superbly-​run Waitrose in Westfield that teems with customers. The quality of the products at Morrisons tend to be worse than Waitrose but not noticeably cheaper (it ain’t no Aldi for example). I struggle therefore to understand how it continues to survive. I only came here most recently because I was in the West 12 Shopping Centre for another reason and thought I might save time. Obviously I won’t be making that mistake again, and doubt I’m the only local to feel likewise.
