Why did it take me so long to review this pub? This is a first class place in the heart of Bethnal Green, with that East London feel we(almost) all like! We went through a tech accelerator with my former startup, and our investor organised an evening out for all the teams about halfway into the programme… Because we all needed to relax. Why in Bethnal Green? Because it’s where their story started, and it’s even in their name. They could not have picked a better place for all of us, about 30 people, to hang out in a perfect summer day. The faux-empty décor looks quite lovely in my view. The bar has a long lane on taps on the wall where you can get a HUGE collection of drinks. Lots of beer, cider, and wine, there something for each and everyone to find his or her perfect taste. The sitting room actually has lovely rows for groups to sit and enjoy their drinks, or barrels for those to stand around whilst enjoying their pints. There is PLENTY of space outside to sit and relax during the lovely days, which was the case when we first went there summer 2014. How about the staff? I always have a note about them, because they can literally change the whole perception of the place for me. Pleased to say that they are in perfect harmony with the place: smiley, lovely, available for customers. What else do you need? Easy 5 stars for you Mother Kellys, a must-go in East London. Have been again, and will go again! :)

I came here with a group of friends after having brunch next door at Resident of Paradise Row. It was empty at the time, but it is a really cool space with lots of tables, a bar with 23 beers on tap, and well labelled fridges with bottled beer and cans sorted by type. The beers are not cheap though — the ones in the fridges averaged about £4 or £5, and the ones on tap were about the same for only 1⁄3 or ½ pint. So this is significantly more expensive than going to your local pub and ordering a full pint for £3 or £4. They did have an incredible selection, though. I saw a lot of Belgian kriek fruit beers, some ciders, another fridge of IPAs, and they even have a whole fridge of sharing beers that come in the size of a wine bottle. The beers on tap ranged from 3% ABV to up to 10%, and you rarely see so many at the higher end of that spectrum. They have a number of food options such as a charcuterie board or even a chocolate truffle board. They also did some free advertising for a guy in their outside area that was selling hot dogs out of his motorcycle, at pay as you wish prices. Very East London. I think this place would be great to have a beer or two, or grab some to take home, but given the prices I would hardly call it a watering hole.

A great bottle shop and tap room. Some great craft beer selections. Bit pricey.

This is an easy 5 star review. Amazing beer selection. I don’t know if you will find better range in the city. They have 20 taps that are always changing… while we were there they changed out 6 kegs and reprinted the menu as well as a huge wall of collers full of bottled beer that you can drink in or takeaway(different prices). The location is great in Paradise Row. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and it was a cool scene. big outdoor selection where they were serving oysters. Overall vibe is hipster, but not obnoxious. Bartenders were not snobs and service was quick. Places like this make me love London

A recent house move quickly sent me searching for an updated watering hole and I found an excellent one in Mother Kellys. First of all, the location of this place is outstanding. Right in the train arches, tucked on Paradise row behind the business of Cambridge heath road. Although you’re bang on the central line, it does feel nicely quiet and secluded, a huge draw for me(and should be for you too). Next(and yes probably the most important bit) the beer — it is awesome, and there’s a boat load of the stuff. On the back wall there are over 20 different taps and a corresponding menu that will certainly contain something for everyone. We’re talk ales, lagers, brown beers, black beers, stouts, cider and the list continues. I went for a nicely rounded sweet cider, number 20 i believe, and it matched the summer sun perfectly. In addition to the tap wall, yep I’ve named it this, there are a few fridges on the side with even more drinkable delights. All bottled with different prices for drinking in and taking away. I’ve now made it my personal mission to get through everything on offer in here(Not in one night). The food is good and simple, they don’t need a lot of food given your time will be better suited to trying all the beer but a veg and meat board does suit a few drinks in the sunshine very well. An absolute find for me and given it’s walkable to the house, I imagine you’ll see me in there when you visit.

Excellent meat & cheese boards are complimented by the massive selections of rare and tasty beers and ciders! Definitely recommended!

I freely admit that I am currently enamored with Mother Kelly’s. It’s location– hidden in the arches down Paradise Row, yet adjacent to Bethnal Green tube station– ensures that people don’t just wander in haphazardly, but it is still very easy to catch the last tube home when last calls echo through the bar. It’s a fabulous new addition to East London and a perfect concept for beer aficionados; if you’re looking to try something novel, this is *the* place to go. The twenty beers on tap are constantly rotating and there’s a new selection offered on every visit. The staff will talk you through their recommendations or let you try for yourself if you’re not convinced that a milk stout or sour Belgian beer sound to your taste. There’s a wall of taps offering beer and ciders, but there are some local gins and other spirits and wine for those less inclined. Adjacent to the tap bar is a wall of fridges, where a wide variety of beers and ciders can either be enjoyed in or taken away. The décor is industrial and pretty on-trend minimalistic– there are a few small barrels used as tables, but mostly communal style seating and more tables outdoors for the warmer months(or all year around when you’re a smoker). It gets pretty hot and boisterous on a Saturday night, but I’ve always managed to eventually get a seat with some patience. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and are always milling about, clearing away the glasses as they stack up. If you’re feeling experimental, take a group a friends and have a sip of everyone’s beer– it’s a great conversation point and everyone will find something that they enjoy by the end of the evening. Be warned, though– some of the beers are very strong and most are offered in 2⁄3 pints(or smaller depending on the potency of the beer). The one downside to Mother Kelly’s is that it might have an impact on your wallet– it can get a bit pricy depending on your palate and drinking speed!

Can’t wait to go to this place in summer! Great outdoor area and a welcoming open indoor space that is subtly set up like a beer garden. That being said it’s still warm and cozy inside on a cold night. There are 20 taps with a changing line up of beers to chose from and then a long wall of bottled beers. These are available for take away too which is excellent because committing to just one or two beers here is seriously difficult. Lots of local as well as international brews to pick from and the staff are there to help you chose. And the staff know their beers. If you ask nicely they will let you try a bit before you buy… This is why I like to sit at the bar. Platters and beer snacks available including the good old peanut option, charcuterie plate and a cheese plate. Good spot to have a settle in session or just a quick tipple after work or pre Mission.

23 taps behind the bar. 6 fridge bottle collection. It’s like the rake or brewdog, but empty of people. Get here before the word gets out, definitely the new hotness.
