Last night, a friend and I enjoyed Muya. It’s an Ethiopian restaurant that’s been around for about a year, located between Kentish Town and Caledonian Road stations. We arrived just a few minutes after the place opened, at 6pm, and had it all to ourselves. In fact, it only started to get busy around 7:15pm, so keep this in mind if you’re looking for an early dinner where you’ll be sure to be seated. It has a nicely styled interior, decorated with Ethiopian art and craft objects, and very comfortable chairs. We both ordered the Vegetarian Sampler(£11.95). I’m lactose intolerant so I had mine without kibe(clarified butter) while she chose to have hers with. The sampler comes with three spiced lentil dishes as well as a green bean and carrot dish, a potato and cabbage dish, and a greens dish, all served with a generous portion of injera — the spongy, filling bread used instead of utensils to pick up and eat Ethiopian food. To wrap up, we both had a cup of sweet, spiced Ethiopian tea. Our server was very friendly. When she came back to the table with the leftovers my friend had asked to take home, she let us know that she had just been cooking a fresh batch of lentils, so she’d added some of them in to the takeaway, no extra charge. I like it when people do things like that — it’s true customer service to go out of your way for someone and make their day feel a little more special. It is also really nice that this place offers the option of kibe-less food. This makes it so that many of the options are vegan. So vegans and lactose-intolerant people, this is a good place for you.

Great food and nice service. We ate in so from previous reviews this seems the way to go as the portion we(2 people) received was quite large. We ordered the platter with both meat and vegetables and were unable to finish it. Nice to have a good Ethiopian place in the neighbourhood.

A small but well formed restaurant with a great menu. It has excellent wide vegan/veggie options as well as plenty of meat. We had to wait a while for our food, despite the restaurant being quiet(hence four rather than five stars) but it was very tasty and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. I’m a fan of Ethiopian and this has probably edged out The Queen of Sheba as my new favourite.

Amazing. Ethiopian. Food. Check this place out. Be prepared to wait a little for your food, but it was worth it. VERY reasonably priced for the quantity of food. They also serve good coffee in the morning and will roast and grind fresh coffee on request. A breath of fresh life in Kentish Town.

I am incredibly impressed as this newly opened restaurant is a breath of fresh air to the area. A small yet stylish atmosphere gives those lucky enough to eat here an amazing meal and fantastic staff. Ethiopian food is very social, so this location would be best for groups of friends to tuck in or couples. The food was superb. Having ordered three dishes for three people we found the amount of food was great(with drinks the price was around £30) as we all stumbled out the door, smiles on our faces. The chickpea order was seasoned well, the chicken was succulent and the lamb was tender to the point of perfection. With great prices, funny and helpful staff, social, and delicious… I will be coming back again. With many friends.
