After a loooong day of moving to my new neighborhood all I wanted was something fast, cheap and cheerful. The last tenants left take-away menus on the fridge, so I figured, why not? We gave Nahling a try and it was… meh. When I order chicken pad thai I don’t expect the meat and veggies to be hard to chew. The culprit? I blame the microwave. I am convinced the food was pre-cooked and reheated in the microwave. Not so nice. The taste was good, not lacking flavor so I imagine the meal would have been great had served fresh. Will I order delivery from them again? I don’t think so. First impressions mean a lot to me.

Save your money. GF and I went there today, after seeing the place full on a number of occasions. We went at 7:30 pm place was empty except for two other people. We were sat at a table away from main area next to the front door. The table is on its own and felt as if we were waiting for take away. the view… we faced a big council dustbin on the right and a bus stop on the left. Across the street a nasty looking brown 70s block with an Iceland in fornt of us. Right then I should have left. The food arrived GF bbq Duck, me prawns, garlic, onions. I asked the waiter if my dish was sweet(had sugar in it) he assured me no. My dish arrived in brown watery sauce and guess what… yep it had sugar in it! And adding insult to injury. the food was lukewarm. My plain noodles, were not plain fried like almost everywhere in the country, but were boiled, wet and looked really unappetizing. Should have left… GF s duck? not crispy but dry and stale. covered with tamarind sauce and stuff so we would not notice. + 2 rice steamed, a coke and a jasmine tea…£22.75! We could have gone to Four Seasons China Town, Mr kong or even ordered from Gourmet Oriental. Cheaper or same price but far better food. Even Basil in kilburn is better(not a great place but better than here and cheaper). The locals seem not to know good tasting food.

Nahling is probably my favorite place to eat dinner on the East Finchley High Street. Although their menu is limited, everything I’ve ever tried has been delicious, especially the chicken with ginger and the duck with plum sauce. The atmosphere is definitely more upscale than your standard local Thai place, so eating in is a pleasure, but you pay for it; the bill for 2 never seems to be under £30! It’s worth a visit if you’re in the area, and I’ve heard the fried banana desert is amazing.

The food at Nahling is wonderful and they always serve it really quickly. I’m not sure if this is a good sign or notit’s nice to have your food arrive quickly but it makes me doubt if it was made freshly. Either way it tastes good. The staff are very polite, a little more formal than I like and not very friendly but polite at least. And they’re efficient, you don’t have to wait long for drinks or for them to take your order.

A superb Thai restaurant and reasonably priced. Authentic food and décor, the nicest place to sit is outside in the garden where they have a fountain and many beautiful plants and flowers on a smart decking platform. A big contrast from the High road at the other end of the building this is a super relaxing place to enjoy a meal. The food was scrumptious. 2 courses, many drinks came to under 40 quid for two people. Was very enjoyable.
