Why haven’t I heard about this place before? Went with family — kids 8,4,1. Everyone loved it. It wasn’t busy, and it was a rainy sunday. Although the museum itself is quite dense, and you can get lost, there’s plenty of great, interactive exhibits, film shows, uniforms to try on! The kids play area looked awesome, but I’d suggest booking in advance as it was fully booked when we tried. An essential place to go with kids.

Looking for something to do with visitors or kids in tow… go here, it’s awesome and free. While living in London for 3 months I went here 3 times. I took my two year old to the play area which for $ 2 is great and helps get all the wiggles out. Then you can explore the museum. He loved running around and I loved learning about all the wars and history of the British army. It is very clean and there is so much to see. This place is a wonderful gem — a little hidden and out of the way, but worth the trip.

5 stars for the under-5, maybe 6 at a stretch, group. Amazing and super clean soft play area. Great for Bday parties too if you are in the area. As a new-ish transplant to England I also love the historical bits. The statues are a teeny bit creepy if you look to closely, and they should put up a sign letting you know whether it’s ok to touch them. As sweet as it is, unless you have little children, are already in the area, or are a crazy war buf, you can probabloy do something else with your limited time in London.

If you want to learn about the British Army from the olden days to where it is now, then this place is for you. It’s FREE admission all the time too. They show the history of how horses played an instrumental role in the early Army times and show the progression through the years of how guns have improved and to what they are today. There’s history lesson of the many many British wars and clashes since the 17th century. What I did notice and this seemed to be a continuing theme as I was going through the other museums in London is that they they never mentioned anything about the Revolutionary War… interesting…hmmm?!? I guess that must of been a very dark times for the Brits and somehow they like to forget about mentioning that. Oh well. U.S.A. U.S.A. Nah, that’s mean, we’re all in the same team now.

Fab museum that’s free for entry. The Army museum has exhibits dating back to well before WWI and up to more recent events. The«Road to Afghanistan» exhibit certainly gave me a «Been there, done that» feeling when I think about the current conflict. Truly, the Brits have been fighting in this part of the world for over two centuries. On multiple levels, as you climb the Museum you see the history of the British Army moving from the past to the present. Many displays of uniforms, weapons and medals, alongside quotes and journal entries of the soldiers themselves. Much of it is very approachable with simulated trenches in the WWI area, a jeep in the WWII area. Lots of narration and noises, there are machine guns chattering, bombs whistling as they drop, airplanes strafing overhead. It’s quite realistic, giving the visitor a real multi-media experience. For the kids, lots of stuff is at eye level. They have a number of items on hooks that can be tried on, including backpacks, helmets and even a nurse’s cape! I think it’s important that people understand what happens here and this is a good way for children to understand army life. Sadly, photography is not permitted. All stuff carried in must be checked and larger items are to be left at the cloakroom. Interestingly, a wandering security guard very politely asked me to respect the exhibits and remove my hat as I toured the museum. It hadn’t occurred to me and I really didn’t mind doing so. Gift shop has the usual stuff you would expect — postcards and army medals and lots of books. There is also a small café.

Great musemu to learn about British Army history… and ITSFREE!(Donation welcome) The museum is well established and well organized(though the floor setting is tough to understand unless you read the map carefully). The history goes back to the orogin of the British Army to the modern day. They had special exbit which was very unique and interesting, and I must say it was not byassed to one side, showing both sides of the story which was very rare to find in this type of museum. Museum store sells extensive military history books, toys, and suveniors a like. This museum is excellent place for anyone interested in military history. I took a bus from the center of the city, no problem. there are also military hospital near by, and the area is just beautiful to just walk around.

This museum is free, interesting and really lovely. They have a moving display on Helmand at the moment and it really brings home what our soldiers in Afghanistan are living through and the comments at the end of the exhibit are lovely, funny and touching. The museum as a whole is full of interesting displays, has a nice shop with some great gifts and is easy-to-get-to on the bus. A nice way to spend a few hours

I took 210 year old boys because it was free and it was a real brain wave, we all loved it — and the bus stop is right outside. There are computers to fiddle with, a Helmand mock-up camp and good descriptions, photographs and histories of other various battles past and present. The ‘Kids Zone’ was a great success, lots of climbing and racing around and we had a really good snack in the café. The shop was full of souvenirs but I thought it was too expensive. This is such a good place to take children, they have fun while learning about our great country’s wonderful war history. I think the exhibitons made it more ‘real’ for them.

Well, this place is great for kids, the museum has a great kids zone — free of charge, with dress-ups, art supplies, climbing stuff and toys for kids of all ages. There is a limit to how many kids can be in there and it is popular so they run it in hour sessions. If they get sick of it in there, there is the Helmand exhibition. Its a very detailed exhibit, with the photos and stories of particular soldiers out there in Afghanistan. You really can understand what its like to be there. I took a 6 year old and he spent nearly 2 hours in there. The café is good and the souvenir shop has got lots of cool stuff. The museum has exhibits that cover the history of land war that Great Britain has been involved in and is very interesting.

Julien
